Overview

Nestled in the northern plains region of Costa Rica and backed by the Talamanca Mountains, you will find the quaint, yet charming town of La Fortuna. And tucked right in the center of town is the budget-friendly Hotel San Bosco. While this hotel may not offer the luxury of a five-star resort, it affords visitors a chance to enjoy the town’s restaurants and shops as well as explore Arenal Volcano’s soothing hot springs and other adventure activities with ease. Hotel San Bosco offers guests an outdoor pool, complimentary breakfast, Wi-Fi, meeting room, and secure parking. Those traveling as a family will appreciate that a children’s pool is also on site. The hotel presents guests with free passes to relax in the hot springs at its sister hotel, The Volcano Lodge. However, the best perk of settling into Hotel San Bosco is for those who wish to spend their time and travel budget on exploring the many activities in the area rather than on a posh hotel experience.

It’s no wonder this town’s name translates to The Fortune with its impressive treasure of hot springs, pristine Arenal Lake, and of course, the main stage attraction, Arenal Volcano National Park. And if these three natural sites of wonder aren’t enough, a rich, lush rainforest, fervent rivers, and stunning waterfalls surround La Fortuna.

The La Fortuna area keeps tourists busy with many exciting adventures. Whether you are zip lining through the rainforest, exploring waterfalls, canyoning, traversing rivers, boarding a jungle cruise, or soaking away your troubles in mineral-rich hot springs, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Travelers won’t want to miss Arenal Volcano during their stay at La Fortuna. From 1958 to 2010, this volcano was highly active and left impressive dried lava rock formations cascading down the face of the volcano. Those staying at Hotel San Bosco can easily view the breathtaking king of the jungle. As long as it’s a clear day out, visually, the volcano can be fully taken in. On a cloudier day, the volcano’s mighty presence can still be felt, but the cone may be shrouded in cloud.

Hotel San Bosco offers its warmly welcomed guests a hearty buffet breakfast every morning. And to enjoy some downtime at the hotel, lounge chairs and tables surround the main pool, while kids can enjoy the children’s pool. For those wishing to sample an extra dose of adventure, Pacific Trade Winds can help visitors book a number of local tours.

While the hotel is not exactly lavish, it offers those visiting the area clean rooms that come equipped with quite a few features. All rooms at Hotel San Bosco include a hair dryer, mini refrigerator, ceiling fan, Wi-Fi, cable TV, and air-conditioning to help tired adventurers cool down at the end of the day. As far as room options go, Hotel San Bosco has choices suited for singles, couples, or families. A stay at Hotel San Bosco allows travelers the affordability to experience all the area has to offer.

Great hotel, excellent breakfast and convenient location. Passes to the thermal spa are a great bonus.

Great location being right by centre of La fortuna! Staff were super friendly and helpful. Having the opportunity to go to Volcano Lodge hot springs was a nice touch. Rooms were a bit dated and beds weren't very comfortable.

Nice hotel. Had one twin & one double bed. Helpful staff. Pretty hotel and pool area. Nice grounds. Very close to town. Can easily walk. Recommend eating at Soda Viquez, especially beef & rice.
