Overview

Corcovado National Park is one of the most remote, least accessible destinations in Costa Rica. Due to this and extraordinary conservation efforts, wildlife thrives in this region. If you are willing to go to great lengths to reach it, you will be rewarded with an amazing experience!

This tour starts off when you are picked up from your hotel.  Those in Uvita area hotels will have a short drive and from Dominical the drive takes around 20 – 30 minutes. If you are staying in Manuel Antonio, expect an hour to an hour and a half each way.

When you arrive at Punta Uvita, you will board a boat that will take you down to the Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park. The boat ride usually lasts around an hour and a half in each direction, though this is subject to change based on daily conditions. The coastline along the way is incredibly beautiful with deserted jungle-lined beaches, scenic rock outcrops, and towering mountains behind it all. Dolphins can often be observed alongside the boat. Whales and sea turtles can often be seen when they are in season.

When you reach the San Pedrillo Ranger Station, you will leave the boat behind. This is a wet landing, so be prepared to disembark the boat in shallow water. We recommend bringing a wet-dry bag for any camera equipment.

Your guide will lead you along two trails at San Pedrillo. Each lasts around two hours. This is one of the most biologically diverse places in the world! With a little luck, your bilingual naturalist guide may be able to point out animals such as the four monkey species or two sloth species that inhabit the park. Other animals include raccoons, anteaters, or possibly even tapirs or wild cats. If time permits, you will also visit the waterfall for a quick swim.

Once the hiking is complete, we will eat lunch and boat back to Uvita. Again, be prepared for another long boat ride. We recommend Dramamine or a motion sickness substitute if you are susceptible to sea sickness. Of course, you should consult with your physician first.

Upon arrival at Punta Uvita, transportation will be provided back to your hotel. The tour is expected to last around 8 – 9 hours, plus transportation time which varies by location. Due to the nature of this tour and variable elements, this is subject to change without notice. This full-day tour includes a bilingual guide, park entrance fees, and lunch.

This was a highlight of the trip. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. They did their best to teach us about the jungle, and we saw many animals. We had a nice swim at the waterfall. A wonderful day.
