On this Arenal Canopy and Rafting Tour you’ll get a double dose of adrenaline as you go on a series of 7 extreme ziplines through the rainforest, then down to the Balsa River white water rafting in Class ll and Class lll rapids. Afterwards you’ll stop at a nearby private farm where you will be served a traditional Costa Rican home cooked meal. This full day jungle adventure is a perfect La Fortuna canopy and rafting combo tour.
You’ll be picked up from your hotel and driven deep into the rainforest just outside of La Fortuna for your first activity, canopy ziplining. Your bilingual guides will fit you with high-quality harnesses and helmets before you hike to the starting point. One by one, you’ll climb a 54 foot tower to what may seem like the top of the world - where the only way down is by gliding across a series of 7 cables, securely strung from platform to platform, high above the forest floor.
This zipline course has been described as one of the most extreme zipline courses in the area, allowing you to zoom over 40 miles per hour. On a clear day you can see stunning views of the town of La Fortuna. You will also zip over the beautiful La Fortuna Waterfall cascading 225 feet down into a pool of turquoise blue. And you’ll be getting a spectacular bird’s eye view!
When everyone has completed the zipline tour, you will go by air conditioned van on a drive that can take up to 1 hour, depending on road conditions, to get to the Balsa River. This is a moderately fast moving river famous for Class ll and Class lll rapids with time in between for wildlife viewing.
At the river your professional guides will hand out high quality helmets and lifejackets plus go over instructions and safety procedures. You’ll cover several miles, experiencing a series of adrenaline-inducing rapids mixed with serene interludes that will give your heart a chance to slow down so you can enjoy the scenery.
Half way down the river, your group will pull over to enjoy a welcome snack of fresh tropical fruits and cold drinks. At this time you can choose to go in for a swim if you like.
After rafting, you’ll be able to change into dry clothes and go to a nearby farm to enjoy a delicious, traditional home cooked Costa Rican lunch prepared especially for you. This hearty midday meal, called a “casado”, is a marriage of freshly cooked rice and beans with salsa, meat or meatless choice, and typical salad.
Included in this fast paced, full day tour are transportation, bilingual guides, entrance fees, safety equipment, fruit snack, drinks and meal. One way transport from your hotel in the La Fortuna area can take between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours driving time depending on the location of your hotel. Combined time of both tours, lunch and all transportation can range between 7 and 9 hours total. It is important to wear enclosed sport shoes that can get wet. Please bring bathing suit, sun protection, bug repellent, clothes that can get wet and dry clothes to change into after the tour. Cameras are fine for the ziplining tour but not recommended while on the river. Weight restrictions may apply to persons weighing over 225 pounds. Minimum age for participants is 8 years old.

Overall, the canopy and rafting combo was exceptional - it felt a little rushed to prepare for the rafting after ziplining, with not enough time to change and get ourselves together for the next activity. The zip lining was so much fun, the guides helped us feel at ease and very safe; thank you!

Both the canopy and rafting were excellent. I would suggest for the ziplining to start off with smaller ziplines to get the person acclimated and used to the equipment - starting off with the two longest ziplines was a bit intimading and scary frankly but overall great experience.

Great experience and very knowledgeable guides. We felt safe the whole time! The ziplining and the rafting were two separate companies, which we didn't realize, but both had areas to keep our belongings during the trip (at ziplining, they had lockers for $2, and during rafting, we were able to keep our items in the shuttle). I really enjoyed the rafting during COVID, as the experience with 4 people per raft was WAY better than 6 people per raft! The room after rafting was one of the best free lunches during our stay. Would highly recommend Mundo Arenal for Ziplining or Wave Rafting for the water rafting!

This was our favorite tour of the vacation. Everyone was awesome. The ziplining was the best we've done anywhere in the US and the rafting was so fun. The dinner afterwards was very nice too.

We had such an amazing day with this tour! The ziplining was quite an adventure and was well outside my comfort zone! The guides were funny, helpful and very encouraging! The white water rafting was probably my favorite adventure we had in Costa Rica! It was such an adventure and we really enjoyed the guides, who are all very well informed about the wildlife and eco systems of Costa Rica. I highly recommend this excursion to everyone!

Was a very early start and a very long day. Loved the rafting, great spirit of the guides, amazing fruit break on the river bank. Zip wire was also good. Very good guides with good safety priorities. Lunch at authentic organic farm was excellent and best coffee served in the whole trip.

The zip-lining was spectacular. The guides paled in comparison to the rappelling guides, but those guys were a hard act to follow. The rafting was amazing! Our guide was knowledgeable and fun, and he knew how to gauge his rafters. We had a really good time. The meal at the farm after the adventures was fabulous. It was a wonderful day!
