Overview

What an opportunity to discover the best of the beaches and go snorkeling too! Costa Rica’s warm waters will entice you to come in for a delicious swim. You’ll be traveling to four breathtakingly beautiful beaches with differing unique features. For example, Playa Grande is the best known beach for where turtles come to lay their eggs during season. Playa Tamarindo is best known for good surfing conditions. Playa Flamingo has shimmering palms surrounding a turquoise blue bay. Then there’s the exquisite Playa Conchal with its pristine white sugar sand and crystal clear water. So grab your suit and towel and get ready for a day at the….beaches!

You’ll be picked up from your lodging and taken from beach to beach to walk, swim, play, run, relax and enjoy some fun in the sun. Each beach has its own character and charm that you’ll want to explore. This is a tropical paradise beach tour extravaganza!

When you reach Playa Conchal, your guide will provide the snorkeling gear and swim with you out over rock and coral formations to see a dazzling display of colorful fish. Over 70 species of tropical fish live in these waters. You may also see a magnificent sea turtle swimming by or other forms of interesting marine life such as sea urchins, starfish and sea cucumbers.

On land you’ll likely see an abundance of local waterfowl: White Ibis, Blue Winged Teals, and Anhingas to name a few, or giant Osprey nests depending on the time of year. You may even spot a large iguana sunning itself overhead on a long warm branch, or a family of Howler monkeys swinging in the tree tops.

Between October and March the endangered Leatherback Turtles come ashore at Playa Grande during the night to lay their eggs. Leatherback Turtles are the largest sea turtle species in the area growing up to 7 feet long. Babies hatch in 8 to 10 weeks and sometimes, if you are really lucky, you might get a chance to see the tiny baby turtles finding their way out to sea as well as tired mama turtles lumbering back to the ocean after a long night of depositing eggs.

If the surf’s up and there is time, you may want to pay for a surfing lesson while visiting Playa Tamarindo, world renowned for its reliable waves and perfect for beginner surfers as well as professionals. Or just enjoy body surfing, jumping on top of a wave and letting it carry you all the way in. There’s no end to the fun you can have at the beach.

For lunch your friendly tour guide will be taking you to a great restaurant with an ocean view. Your round trip, air conditioned transport can be up to 1 ½ hours each way, based on how far away your lodging is and local traffic conditions. Transportation, a certified bilingual guide, snorkeling gear, water and lunch are all included in this fun filled half day tour.

If you would like you can upgrade to scuba diving for an additional $50 per person.

Snoring wasn’t viable and we selected this specifically for this. It was fun to see the different characteristics of the beaches and be in the water. I can’t kmagine snorkeling ever being possible that close to shore.

Which I really enjoyed the beach that had shell for sand. The snorkeling was great I saw the most fish that I've ever seen before!

Guide wasn't as personable as others but he gradually became more interactive as we coaxed him. Snorkeling was great. Saw lots of interesting fish. Enjoyed stopping on way home for lunch at locals restaurant

We loved the tour and the guide was super helpful and patient with us. Only thing we would note is that the description could be improved so that it is clear that this isn't a boating tour.

Beaches were wonderful. Had a great time snorkeling and saw many species of fish.

This tour wasn't quite what we expected. I thought we would have a boat ride and then snorkel at some beach. Instead, we went by van to several beaches and snorkeled at one. That said, the guide was excellent and the van ride comfortable. We got to see a great deal and enjoyed the various beaches. The snorkeling could have been better as we had some issue with small shells getting in the snorkel valve which blocked them from shutting out water. The Soda we visited for lunch that day was excellent.
