Overview

The Isla Tortuga Cruise is an all-inclusive experience that includes a 90 minute catamaran boat ride out to the white sand beaches of Tortuga Island for an afternoon of fun. This cruise is known as a “one day vacation”, providing a good mixture of fun, relaxation, exploration and immersion in Nature. You’ll be provided with breakfast, lunch and a variety of things to see and do throughout the day.

The tour begins when you are picked up at your hotel and driven to the marina where the catamaran will be waiting for you. Before hopping on board, you’ll be invited to sit down for a delicious hot, typical breakfast and meet the rest of your group that will be joining you on your adventure.

After breakfast you’ll embark on a leisurely ocean catamaran cruise as your guide and captain introduce themselves and go over boat safety instructions. This 71-foot catamaran is well-equipped with two small fresh water swimming pools, plenty of seating space and a netted floor area where you can suntan or stare at the ocean below as you cruise by.

The Gulf of Nicoya is dotted with several wild and uninhabited islands that are beautiful and have captivating histories. Your guide will point out interesting sites along the way and tell you stories about each one. You will also be served fresh tropical fruit and cold bottles of water.

Upon arrival to Tortuga Island, your crew will quickly unload, and magically turn the regular looking beach into an elegant dining area with white tables cloths and canopies to provide shade. They’ll start grilling up lunch while you will have a chance to explore the Island, go for a swim or relax on the beach.

A four-course hot lunch will be served. There will also be unlimited access to soft drinks, water, fresh fruit juices and if you would like to buy alcoholic beverages they are available for an additional cost.

After lunch, you’ll be invited to shift back into exploration gear and take advantage of the many activities available on the island. Your guide will lead a snorkeling excursion, providing life jackets and snorkeling equipment to those who would like to swim in the colorful underwater paradise surrounding Tortuga Island.

You may also wish to take a ride on the banana boat, play some beach volleyball or test your balance on slack lines. For those who want to simply relax, there are beach chairs and hammocks for sun tanning or curling up with a book.

When the tour comes to a close, you will all hop back on board the catamaran to journey another 90 minutes back to the mainland. You’ll then be driven back to your hotel.

This tour includes catamaran, captain, bilingual guide, safety and snorkeling equipment, all activities, breakfast, lunch plus transportation from lodgings in: Herradura and Jaco. One way transportation can take between 20 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on your hotel location. Combined time of breakfast, round trip boat ride, lunch, an afternoon of activities and round trip transport to your hotel can take between 8 and 13 hours depending on where you are staying.

This was a super fun day and the boat ride itself was great, as well as the food, etc... However, the van ride from Jaco was VERY long, particularly since we later found out there is a comparable cruise that was only a 15 minute ride from our condo. (Costa Cat). The day was a long day, and the van ride made it very much less enjoyable, although that was no fault of the driver. Sadly, the water was very cloudy that day, so the snorkeling was not good, but that was just bad luck apparently due to recent rain washing silt into the water.

The meal at the marina was better than expected. The explanation of what was going to happen when we got to the island needs a little improvement. food for lunch was very good.
