Overview

If you are looking for an adventurous night time activity, the Night Time Canopy Tour near Manual Antonio is an excellent choice. Canopy zip line tours have become increasingly popular all over Costa Rica, but not many companies offer them at night. This unique tour allows visitors to experience the night time spirit of the rainforest with its mysterious sights and sounds.

The tour will begin when you are picked up from your hotel and driven to the Manuel Antonio canopy zipline headquarters just as the sun is setting. Upon arrival your guide will greet you and hand out high quality safety equipment including helmets and harnesses. You will receive a review of safety guidelines as well as information on how the equipment will be attached to the zip lines and braking instructions.

The rainforest in Costa Rica has an abundant amount of wildlife, most of which only comes out at night. While traditional daytime canopy tours and forest hikes are remarkable, you will have an increased chance of seeing a greater percentage of wildlife by going into the canopy at night. Some of the animal species often seen on this tour are: bats, owls, sloths, olingos, kinkajous, raccoons and the four eyed opossum.

There is also a large variety of nighttime reptiles, amphibians and insects such as: snakes, red eyed tree frogs, glass frogs, glowing bugs and tarantulas! Your guides will tell you some interesting facts about the nocturnal wildlife in Costa Rica and identify any you might run across on the night of your zipline adventure.

On this night canopy tour, you will traverse up to 12 sturdy steel cables that are strung from platform to platform. The course has been thoughtfully set up to provide amazing views of the surrounding jungle during the day, but at night you won’t be able to see anything except pure darkness, and on a clear night, a gorgeous display of stars. You may hear the gentle “roar” of the night time jungle, which can be very awe-inspiring.

Imagine standing on a secure platform that hangs over the rainforest canopy: Your guide hooks your harness to the steel cable and as you follow the cable with your eyes, it disappears into a dark abyss. With the comforting sounds of the pulsing jungle orchestra and encouragement from your guide, you take a leap off the platform and glide through the darkness.

After a few moments you begin to see the next platform getting closer and closer. Another guide is standing ready to receive you and salute you for your first night time zip. You will continue from cable to cable experiencing the thrill of soaring through the night jungle, perhaps by the light of the moon.

After you and your group completes the zip line course, it will be time to head back to headquarters. You guides will provide a snack and refreshing beverage before you’ll be driven back to your hotel.

This tour includes bilingual guides, all safety equipment, snack, beverage and transportation from Manual Antonio. It can take from 20 to 45 minutes to get from your hotel to the zipline headquarters, depending on your pick-up location. Combined time of zip lining tour and transportation takes between 3 and 4 hours. Please wear fully enclosed shoes, insect repellent, long pants, and a light jacket. Maximum weight restriction is 275 pounds. Children age 5 and over may participate in this tour.
