Entertaining expert surf instructors will help you to learn how to stand up on your surfboard and ride a wave during your first class. This is your opportunity to enjoy safe, fun, and easy instructions on how to surf. All that is required is the desire to surf, the ability to swim, and a passion for fun and laughter!
Your surf lesson beings with transportation from your hotel. You will meet with your friendly, bilingual surfing instructor on the beach where you will learn the basics of water safety, surfboard handling, and terminology. You will practice on dry land how to position yourself on the board and the techniques for lifting up into a standing position.
Next you’ll take your board into the water and try out your first waves as your instructor coaches you along. There will be only 3 or 4 students per instructor to ensure you receive the individual attention needed.
One of the main activities in Tamarindo is surfing. Due to the outlying reefs, the breaking waves are consistent and not too big, which make conditions just right for beginners.

This surfing lesson tour includes a skilled professional, bilingual instructor, surfboard, rash guard and transportation from your hotel in Flamingo, Papagayo, or the Tamarindo area. One way transit can take from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the location of your hotel. Total time for surf lesson and round trip transportation usually takes between 3.5 to 5 hours.
Please bring your bathing suit, rash guard for surfing, and towel, a dry change of clothing, sunblock, bottled water, and camera. You may want to ask someone to capture your very first wave in a photo to remember this moment for many years to come!

This was our other favorite activity!!!! We had so much fun and loved our instructor. We both were able to get up on the surf board, too!!

Yes, we loved it! Axel was great and we had SO much fun! He was very patient and helped me when I was hesitant about going in to the water.
