Overview

This thrilling Rio Colorado rafting tour combines whitewater rafting in Guanacaste. Although it can be challenging, you do not have to be an extreme athlete to enjoy this adventure.

Your tour begins with transportation from your hotel to the rafting headquarters. Your bilingual guide will go over the safety procedures and introduce you to the rafting equipment you will be using. This tour is fine for beginner or experienced rafters.

You will be provided with a life jacket, and helmet. At the Colorado River you will be helped into your whitewater raft and given instructions on how to use your paddle. Depending on your ability your guide can ride with you in the 2 person raft or follow closely behind you. If the water levels are low and running slower you may be switched to a single person tube.

This is a perfect opportunity to white water raft down the Rio Colorado in Class ll and Class lll rapids. Class ll rapids are defined as leisurely rapids, with small waves and very few obstructions in the course, resulting in minimal maneuvering. Class lll rapids have higher, intermittent waves with narrower passages that may require some manipulation of your raft. These rapids allow you to enjoy the rafting experience while delighting in the beautiful surroundings at the same time. Ideal conditions for a first time white water rafter.

After this exciting adventure you’ll probably be ready for a hearty lunch! You’ll be taken to lunch where you can relax and share the excitement of the day with others in your group. From here it is only a short hike to where the vehicle is waiting to take you back to your hotel after your exhilarating trip.

This tour includes all rafting and safety equipment, a bilingual guide and air conditioned transportation from Jobo, Hotel Riu, Tamarindo, as well as the Flamingo and Papagayo areas. One way transportation from your hotel can take between 1 and 2 hours depending upon your pick up location. The entire experience of rafting, rappelling, lunch and round-trip transportation can take from 4 to 6 hours. Please bring clothes that you don’t mind getting wet, fully enclosed non-skid shoes, sun block, a dry change of clothing, insect repellent, and sun glasses. Participants need to be 10 years old or older.

So fun! Guides were great!

First, we were re-routed to Rio Corobici due to water levels. That was a longer drive but just fine with us. We liked our transport guide, Kevin, and he went with us on the raft trip as well, during which his knowledge of local wildlife was a great addition to our adventure. Our lunch at the riverside Corobici Restaurant was delicious. All in all a great outdoor day.
