Gear up for a wild ATV adventure ride hitting back roads and private trails outside the Tamarindo area. You will be riding through monkey country in a privately owned, protected tropical dry forest, typical of the Pacific Northwest coastal area. Crossing rivers and zooming up and down hills, you’ll catch stunning ocean and mountain views in the distance along the way.
Arriving at ATV headquarters, you’ll meet your bilingual guides who will go over safety instructions and give you helmets to wear. All the ATVs are Hondas so you'll be riding in style and comfort. Next, you’ll receive a demonstration before trying out some practice runs to gage your ability level. Drivers must be at least 16 years old but children from age 6 to 15 can ride behind a parent or guide (see Tour: ATV Offroad Adventure - Double- Fourtrax Tamarindo). Ensuring your safety is their #1 priority.
You’ll head out into a privately owned protected lowland tropical dry forest, endangered worldwide due to clear cutting, where you’ll see rare Pochote and Teak trees that were previously over harvested for lumber. These trees provide needed habitat for a variety of native wildlife including the monkeys and exotic birds now making their home here. You’ll ride through the success of the reforestation projects as you traverse the winding forest trails. Friendly guides will point out and identify any animals that may be visible during your trek.
Crossing stream beds and slogging through mud will ramp up the fun as you slip slide along the river bed. Your guide will be happy to take videos of your epic adventure using your own camera or phone. ATVs give you an awesome opportunity to be in direct contact with Nature as you discover the Costa Rica countryside.
After about two hours, you’ll return to headquarters and be treated to fresh fruit and cold water to wash away any dust in your throats. It’s a good time to review your photos confirming that you were born to be wild!
Round trip transportation is provided from Flamingo and Tamarindo. Transport times can be up to approximately 45 minutes each way depending on traffic and how far away your lodging is. Also included in this radical half day nature ride are bilingual guides, entrance fees, Honda ATVs, helmets, water and juice. Time to get your motor movin!

We had a great time with our guide and exploring nearby beaches. We stopped at one for a smoothie and quick bite.would love to have ventured back there again!

We had a great time on this tour. We got to see Howler Monkey's. We had a great time riding through Tamarindo and along the beach. The Food for lunch was awesome. Fresh Mahi Mahi Grilled Blacken fish!!!

I expected to be able to drive fast, but we never got the chance to drive fast at any point during the adventure. I liked going through the canopy and the nice break halfway through. I would have liked to go faster.

The transfer to the atv excursion was not good. It smelled and was a mess. Parts of doors missing etc. Once there the guide was great and loved the experience but again this was the ONLY part that was really not good on the whole trip.

The tour was incredible. It was my first time riding an ATV and I felt safe during the entire time. Our guide took the extra effort to drive us to a hidden viewpoint which was not even included in the itinerary. The helmets had visors which definitely helped in the case that dirt would brush up on our face. Even though I didn't get to see monkeys at our end destination, I had a blast on the tour! Water was included which was not expected.

Our guide was tons of fun!! He took very good care of us!! And he took the time to talk with us. He offered for me to ride with him or my husband or that I could drive my own atv. I was not very excited about this tour as I wear contacts and I was affraid that I would get dirt in my eyes and not be able to see and that I would make others leg behind. Because I rode with the guide it was a wonderful day!!! We came up on this awsome tree and it was full of howler monkeys!!! That was great!!

Had a blast. Everyone should take this tour. We had two choices the beach or the forest. We took the forest route where the riding was more uneven and bumpy.

We had soooo much fun with the owner! He took us to nice trails and nice beaches! He took his time showing us around! The ATVs were sturdy and felt safe driving them. Would recommend to friends and family!
