Day 1![]() Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to San Jose International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at other airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will be provided to San Jose which is the capital city. During your visit to San Jose, you will stay at Sleep Inn. The Hotel Sleep Inn is conveniently located in the heart of the historic district of San Jose city. Hotel amenities include restaurant, bar, casino, business center. While at Sleep Inn you will enjoy a Standard Double Room. Standard Double Rooms feature cable tv, high speed internet access, work desk, air conditioning, safe deposit, iron and ironing board, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. |
Day 2![]() Orosi Valley and Lankaster Gardens. We travel to the city of Cartago, former capital of Costa Rica until 1823, for a visit to the historic Basilica of Virgen de los Angeles. We will stop at Lankester Gardens to view the world-class collection of orchids, bromeliads, heliconias, and countless species of other plants. We then continue to the Valley of Orosi to visit one of the few remaining colonial churches, and have lunch at a local restaurant. We will also observe La Casa Del Sonador, an example of Costa Rican primitive art. This 5 hour tour includes transportation, bilingual guide, entrance to Lankester Gardens, and lunch. |
Day 3![]() Transportation will be provided to Puerto Viejo which is home to some of the most beautiful white sand, palm studded beaches in Costa Rica. During your visit to Puerto Viejo, you will stay at Azania Bungalows. Azania Bungalows is a Caribbean bungalow style hotel located in front of Playa Cocles in Puerto Viejo. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, jacuzzi, restaurant, bar, and internet. While at Azania Bungalows you will enjoy a Bungalow Room. Bungalows feature naturally-ventilation along with traditional materials, exotic woods and thatched-palm roofs, bamboo furniture, ceiling fans, mini bar, in-room safe, sauna-style bathroom, large windows with mosquito nets, and a private deck with hammock. |
Day 4![]() The Dolphin watching and snorkeling adventure at Punta Mona is an amazing experience! You will start off by boarding a motor boat of one of the local fishermen who will be your tour guide. He will bring you out to hopefully observe dolphins and take you to the best snorkeling area to observe tropical fish above a coral reef. This fun filled half day adventure includes transportation, guide, boat and snorkeling gear. |
Day 5![]() Indian Reserve, waterfall and chocolate house tour. The tour starts with a walk through the jungle to a waterfall which you will be able to swim under. We will then go to the Bri Bri village, Uatsi to learn about the indigenous people, medicinal plants, and crafts. Next we will go to the House of Chocolate to learn about the process of making cocoa and chocolate from the fruit. This 4 hour tour includes transportation, drinks, fruit, and bilingual guide. |
Day 6![]() Beach day at Puerto Viejo. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tropical sun on the palm studded beaches of the Caribbean coast. |
Day 7![]() Transportation will be provided to Tortuguero which is home to numerous species of wildlife and a primary nesting area for Atlantic Green Sea Turtles from July through October. During your visit to Tortuguero, you will stay at Turtle Beach Lodge. Turtle Beach Lodge is a comfortable eco-lodge located between the beach area and the Tortuguero Canals. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, restaurant, bar, nature trails, and internet. While at Turtle Beach Lodge you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Rooms are naturally-ventilated featuring private bathroom with hot water, and garden view. |
Day 7![]() Tortuguero Town Tour. Tortuguero is a typical Caribbean coastal fishing village. Your guide will walk you through the town and explain how the villagers live and about their unique culture. This 1 hour tour includes bilingual guide. |
Day 8![]() Transportation will be provided to the Arenal Volcano area which is not only one of the most beautiful destinations in Central America, but also the Adventure Capital. During your visit to the Arenal Volcano area, you will stay at Arenal Springs Resort and Spa. Arenal Springs Resort and Spa is an eco-resort with thermal hot springs surrounded by tropical gardens located in the shadow of the imposing Arenal Volcano in the resort area outside of La Fortuna. Hotel amenities include thermal hot springs, swimming pools, restaurant, bar, internet access, spa, yoga platform and conference room. While at Arenal Springs Resort and Spa you will enjoy a Junior Suite. Junior Suites feature air-conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fan, mini bar stocked with complimentary beverages for two people, telephone, in-room safe, hair dryer, and a terrace area with a view of Arenal Volcano. |
Day 9![]() The Sky Tram and Butterfly Garden is a really unique experience! This adventure starts off by taking a gondola style cable car some 1250 meters up through the rainforest canopy to a hilltop in front of Arenal Volcano. Once you arrive back at the main station, you will be able to visit the Butterfly Garden. This half day, 3 hour tour includes transportation and guide. |
Day 9![]() The Arenal Volcano Natural History and Hot Springs tour is a great way to learn about the volcano and observe wildlife before relaxing in thermal hot springs! The tour starts in the afternoon at the El Silencio Trail, where you will go on an easy hike through the rainforest at the base of the volcano. With a little luck, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out various species of wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, parrots and others. The trail ends at a mirador with excellent views to the volcano. |
Day 10![]() Free day to explore La Fortuna. This is a fun little tourist geared town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities. Go explore the rainforest, volcano, lake, or contact us for choices of an added activity. |
Day 11![]() Final Day — All good things must come to an end, though memories last a lifetime. Transportation will be provided back to San Jose International Airport scheduled to arrive three hours prior to your departure flight. ¡Pura Vida! |
