Day 1 Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to San Jose International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at other airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will be provided to San Jose which is the capital city. During your visit to San Jose, you will stay at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura. Ramada Herradura is an airport hotel and resort. It also provides one of the largest conference centers in Costa Rica. Hotel amenities include swimming pools, jacuzzis, restaurants, bar, casino, and tropical gardens and Airport Shuttle. While at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura you will enjoy a Superior Room. Superior Rooms feature air conditioning, satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, internet access. |
Day 2 Transportation will be provided to Drake Bay which is home to some of the most beautiful palm studded beaches in Costa Rica and an abundance of wildlife in the national park. During your visit to Drake Bay, you will stay at Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp. Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp is a jungle and beach tent camp located southy of Drake Bay on the yellow sand beaches of Caletas. While at Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp you will enjoy a Tent - 3 NightS Combo Package - 4D-3N Room. Day 3 Corcovado National Park Tour via the Sirena Station. The day starts off with a boat ride down the coast to the Sirena Station. Then a bilingual naturalist guide will lead you on a voyage to Corcovado National Park. This park is home to about 6,000 species of insects, 500 tree species, 367 bird species, 140 mammal species, 117 amphibian and reptile species, 40 fresh water fish species and abundant flora and fauna. Your guide will point out and describe the various species. In the afternoon with a little luck you will have the opportunity to see dolphins, sea turtles and whales upon you return by boat. This 8 hour tour includes transportation, guide, park entrance, and lunch. |
Day 4 Cano Island Tour and Snorkeling. Cano Island is located 15 kilometers off the south Pacific coast. It was utilized by Pre-Columbian indigenous people as a sacred burial area and many artifacts remain. The day starts off with a boat ride out to Cano Island. Upon arrival we will snorkel for an hour and then you will eat lunch. After eating, you have your choice of exploring the island or beach time on the white sands. This 5 hour tour includes transportation, guide, park entrance, and lunch. |
Day 5 Transportation will be provided to Dominical which is home to some of the most beautiful palm studded surf beaches in Costa Rica and an abundance of wildlife in the surrounding mountains. During your visit to Dominical, you will stay at Hacienda Baru. Hacienda Baru is an eco-lodge and wildlife refuge located just north of Dominical. This unique property is a bird watcher's and adventurer's paradise with miles of trails, secluded beaches, and adventure activities galore. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, restaurant, bar, and internet. While at Hacienda Baru you will enjoy a Superior Room. Superior Rooms feature naturally-ventilation, a bathroom with hot water shower, in-room safe, and a front porch with a view of the rainforest. |
Day 6 Rainforest Experience Hike. The Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge is home to monkeys, 2 types of sloths and many other endangered species. With a little luck and cooperation from Mother Nature, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out wildlife such as these and others. This 4 hour tour includes bilingual guide. No transportation is needed from Hacienda Baru. Transportation is not included from other area hotels. |
Day 8 Kayaking at the Hatillo Mangroves. The Hatillo Mangroves are loaded with wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, anteaters and many other species. With a little luck and cooperation from Mother Nature, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out wildlife such as these and others as you drift through on your open top kayak. This 3 hour tour includes transportation and bilingual guide. |
Day 7 Beach day at Playa Dominical. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tropical sun on the palm studded beaches of the Pacific coast. |
Day 9 Transportation will be provided to San Gerardo de Dota which is a birdwatchers paradise located in the central cloud forests. During your visit to San Gerardo de Dota, you will stay at Trogon Lodge. The Trogon Lodge is an Eco-lodge and bird watchers paradise located in the cloud forest area of San Gerardo de Dota. Hotel amenities include trout pond, restaurant, bar, nature trails, conference room, and internet. While at Trogon Lodge you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Rooms feature a heating system and views of the river Savegre or forest. |
Day 10 Early Morning Birdwatching tour. This tour is great for any birdwatcher and particulary those seeking Resplendent Quetzals as this is one of the few areas in the world that has the right features to harbor Quetzals year round. With a little luck and cooperation from Mother Nature, we should be able to spot many species of birds. The tour lasts 2 hours and includes guide. No transportation is needed from Trogon Lodge. Transportation is not included from other area hotels. |
Day 11 Final Day — All good things must come to an end, though memories last a lifetime. Transportation will be provided back to San Jose International Airport scheduled to arrive three hours prior to your departure flight. ¡Pura Vida! |
