Day 1 Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to San Jose International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at other airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will be provided to the Arenal Volcano area which is not only one of the most beautiful destinations in Central America, but also the Adventure Capital. During your visit to the Arenal Volcano area, you will stay at Arenal Springs Resort. While at Arenal Springs Resort and Spa you will enjoy a Junior Suite. Junior Suites feature air-conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fan, mini bar stocked with complimentary beverages for two people, telephone, in-room safe, hair dryer, and a terrace area with a view of Arenal Volcano. |
Day 2 The Arenal Volcano Natural History and Hot Springs tour is a great way to learn about the volcano and observe wildlife before relaxing in thermal hot springs! The tour starts in the afternoon at the El Silencio Trail, where you will go on an easy hike through the rainforest at the base of the volcano. With a little luck, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out various species of wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, parrots and others. The trail ends at a mirador with excellent views to the volcano. |
Day 3 Whitewater rafting is a thrilling adventure and Costa Rica is home to some of the best rivers and guides in the world! The day starts off with a brief safety lesson and you are then on your way as your guide navigates you through class II and III rapids on the Rio Balsa. This is a great river for first timers and those that want the thrills of rafting without going overboard - yes the pun was intended. No experience necessary on this half day adventure which includes transportation, safety kayaker, guides, lunch, and equipment. |
Day 4 Transportation will be provided to Monteverde which is located in the cloud forests of the continental divide. During your visit to Monteverde, you will stay at Hotel Poco a Poco. While at Hotel Poco a Poco you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Rooms feature comfortable orthopedic beds, hair dryer, telephone, coffee maker, cable TV with DVD, and in-room safe. |
Day 5 The Hanging Bridges offer an amazing glimpse into the canopy of the cloud forest! The hike includes 3 kilometers of terrestrial trails and 8 bridges through the tree tops allowing you to view the forest from all perspectives. This fun filled half day tour includes guides, transportation, and entrance to the private reserve. |
Day 6 Transportation will be provided to Tambor which is home to palm studded beaches which are excellent for swimming. During your visit to Tambor, you will stay at Barcelo Tambor Beach Resort. While at Barcelo Tambor Beach Resort you will enjoy a Double Guest Room. Double Guest Rooms feature air-conditioning, bathroom, shower, hair dryer, magnifying mirror, telephone, Satellite TV, mini bar, coffeemaker, in-room safe, and a terrace or balcony with sea or garden views. Day 7 Cabo Blanco National Park guided tour. Cabo Blanco was the first national park created in Costa Rica. The park is home to 2 species of monkeys, sloths and many other endangered species. With a little luck and cooperation from Mother Nature, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out wildlife such as these and others. Park is closed on Mondays. This half day 3.5 hour tour includes transportation, bilingual guide, and drinks. |
Day 8 The Tortuga Island Boat Ride and Snorkeling adventure is an amazing experience! The tour starts with a scenic cruise along the Gulf of Nicoya for a 50 minute voyage to Tortuga Island. Dolphins, manta rays or humpback whales are just a few examples of the marine life frequently viewed along the way to the island. Upon arriving to the tropical paradise of Tortuga Island you will anchor for your first snorkeling session. This area is surrounded by volcanic rocks, crystal waters and vibrant tropical coral reefs which is home some of the best snorkeling on Costa Rica’s Central Pacific coast. After snorkeling, you will continue to the white sand beach of Tortuga Island. Kayak rentals and additional snorkeling available. This fun filled full day excursion includes transportation, guide, snorkeling equipment, drinks, and meal. |
Day 9 Beach day at Playa Tambor. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tropical sun on the palm studded beaches of the Pacific coast. |
Day 10 Transportation will be provided to Alajuela. During your visit to Alajuela, you will stay at Holiday Inn Express. While at Holiday Inn Express you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Rooms feature air-conditioning, wireless Internet, cable TV, workspace and Desk, alarm radio, coffee maker, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. |
Day 11 Final Day — All good things must come to an end, though memories last a lifetime. Transportation will be provided back to San Jose International Airport scheduled to arrive three hours prior to your departure flight. ¡Pura Vida! |
