Day 1 Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to San Jose International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at other airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will be provided to Alajuela. During your visit to Alajuela, you will stay at Holiday Inn Express. Holiday Inn Express is a comfortable hotel located in Alajuela across from the International airport. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, jacuzzi, massage service, mini gym, business conference room, airport shuttle, and internet. While at Holiday Inn Express you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Rooms feature air-conditioning, wireless Internet, cable TV, workspace and Desk, alarm radio, coffee maker, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. |
Day 2 Transportation will be provided to Tortuguero which is home to numerous species of wildlife and a primary nesting area for Atlantic Green Sea Turtles from July through October. During your visit to Tortuguero, you will stay at Turtle Beach Lodge. Turtle Beach Lodge is a comfortable eco-lodge located between the beach area and the Tortuguero Canals. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, restaurant, bar, nature trails, and internet. While at Turtle Beach Lodge you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Rooms are naturally-ventilated featuring private bathroom with hot water, and garden view. |
Day 2 Tortuguero Town Tour. Tortuguero is a typical Caribbean coastal fishing village. Your guide will walk you through the town and explain how the villagers live and about their unique culture. This 1 hour tour includes bilingual guide. |
Day 3 Tortuguero Canal Tour. This tour is a riverboat ride through the Tortuguero Canals, which are located within the national park. With a little luck and cooperation from Mother Nature, your bilingual guide will point out animals, flora, and fauna that live within this unique eco-system. The Tortuguero Canals are home to many species of wildlife including, but not limited to three species of monkeys, two species of sloths, crocodiles, caimans, various species of amphibians and reptiles, and hundreds of bird species. This tour lasts 2 - 3 hours and includes a bilingual naturalist guide. |
Day 4 Transportation will be provided to the Arenal Volcano area which is not only one of the most beautiful destinations in Central America, but also the Adventure Capital. During your visit to the Arenal Volcano area, you will stay at Arenal Springs Resort. Arenal Springs Resort is an eco-resort located in the shadow of the imposing Arenal Volcano in the resort area outside of La Fortuna. Hotel amenities include heated hot spring pools, restaurant, bar, internet access, spa, conference room, and tropical gardens. While at Arenal Springs Resort and Spa you will enjoy a Junior Suite. Junior Suites feature air-conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fan, mini bar stocked with complimentary beverages for two people, telephone, in-room safe, hair dryer, and a terrace area with a view of Arenal Volcano. |
Day 5 Arenal Volcano observation hike at El Silencio Trail. In the afternoon, you will go on an easy level guided hike through the rainforest at the base of the volcano. With a little luck, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out different species of wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, parrots and others. The trail ends at one of the closest safe observation points to the volcano. |
Day 6 Whitewater rafting on the Rio Balsa. Professional bilingual guides will help navigate you through class II and III rapids on this thrilling adventure. The Rio Balsa is a great river for first timers and those that want the thrills of rafting without going overboard - yes the pun was intended. Please inform us if you weigh over 200 pounds as restrictions may apply. No experience necessary on this half day adventure which includes transportation, safety kayaker, guides, lunch and equipment. |
Day 7 Arenal Hanging Bridges guided nature walk. This is a moderate level guided hike with some inclines that will give you a birds eye view of the rainforest canopy. This half day, 4 hour tour includes guide, transportation, and entrance to the private reserve. |
Day 8 Transportation will be provided to Monteverde which is located in the cloud forests of the continental divide. During your visit to Monteverde, you will stay at El Establo Mountain Hotel. El Establo Mountain Hotel is the largest eco-resort and spa in the Monteverde region and located near the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Hotel amenities include 2 indoor heated swimming pools, restaurant, bar, gym, conference center, spa, tennis courts, basketball court, soccer field, and internet. While at El Establo Mountain Hotel you will enjoy a Deluxe Room. Deluxe Rooms feature orthopedic mattresses, telephone, coffee maker, refrigerator, cable TV, alarm-clock, in-room safe, and balcony or terrace with rocking chairs and a view of the Gulf of Nicoya. |
Day 9 Canopy Zipline adventure on the Aventuras Canopy course. The Canopy Zipline is a must do for anybody adventurous that visits Costa Rica. This thrilling high speed, high flying course offers 16 zips up to 600 meters and 80 meters high, 1 rappel, and a Tarzan swing. This 4 hour tour includes transportation, and guide. |
Day 10 Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve tour. This is an easy walk through the famous cloud forest which is located at an elevation of 1,350 meters. The cloud forest is an amazing place where one will view life on top of life and many endangered and endemic species. After the hike you will be able to visit the Hummingbird Gallery. This 4 hour tour includes transportation, park entrance, and guide. |
Day 11 Final Day — All good things must come to an end, though memories last a lifetime. Transportation will be provided back to San Jose International Airport scheduled to arrive three hours prior to your departure flight. ¡Pura Vida! |
