Day 1![]() Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to San Jose International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at other airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will be provided to San Jose which is the capital city. During your visit to San Jose, you will stay at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura. Ramada Herradura is an airport hotel and resort. It also provides one of the largest conference centers in Costa Rica. Hotel amenities include swimming pools, jacuzzis, restaurants, bar, casino, and tropical gardens and Airport Shuttle. While at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura you will enjoy a Superior Room. Superior Rooms feature air conditioning, satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, internet access. |
Day 2![]() San Jose City Tour. This tour familiarizes you with Costa Rican culture, visiting museums and historic sites of San Jose including the National Theater, University of Costa Rica, and the Supreme Court. We will make a brief stop at a souvenir shop giving you the opportunity to bring home a part of Costa Rica. This tour is approximately 5 hours and includes round-trip transportation, bilingual guide, entrance fees to the Gold Museum and the National Theater. |
Day 3![]() Paos Volcano, Doka, La Paz Waterfall Gardens. On the way to Paos Volcano, we will visit Doka Coffee Estate for breakfast and tour to learn the techniques and process in the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden Bean. At the Volcano, we will observe the massive main crater with sulfur fumaroles and learn about the variety of ecosystems in the park. We will continue to La Paz Water Fall Garden for lunch and follow the trail leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. This 10 hour tour includes transportation, bilingual guide, entrance fee to Poas Volcano National Park, entrance fee to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, entrance fee to Coffee Tour, breakfast, and lunch. |
Day 4![]() Transportation will be provided to Tortuguero which is home to numerous species of wildlife and a primary nesting area for Atlantic Green Sea Turtles from July through October. During your visit to Tortuguero, you will stay at Laguna Lodge. Laguna Lodge is a comfortable eco-resort located on the Tortuguero Canals. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, restaurant, bar, conference room, nature trails, and internet. While at Laguna Lodge you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Rooms are naturally-ventilated featuring comfortable beds, a private bath, ceiling fan, reading lamps, in-room safe, and a walkway in front. |
Day 4![]() Tortuguero Town Tour. Tortuguero is a typical Caribbean coastal fishing village. Your guide will walk you through the town and explain how the villagers live and about their unique culture. This 1 hour tour includes bilingual guide. |
Day 5![]() Tortuguero Canal Tour. This tour is a riverboat ride through the Tortuguero Canals, which are located within the national park. With a little luck and cooperation from Mother Nature, your bilingual guide will point out animals, flora, and fauna that live within this unique eco-system. The Tortuguero Canals are home to many species of wildlife including, but not limited to three species of monkeys, two species of sloths, crocodiles, caimans, various species of amphibians and reptiles, and hundreds of bird species. This tour lasts 2 - 3 hours and includes a bilingual naturalist guide. |
Day 6![]() Transportation will be provided to the Arenal Volcano area which is not only one of the most beautiful destinations in Central America, but also the Adventure Capital. During your visit to the Arenal Volcano area, you will stay at Arenal Springs Resort. Arenal Springs Resort is an eco-resort located in the shadow of the imposing Arenal Volcano in the resort area outside of La Fortuna. Hotel amenities include heated hot spring pools, restaurant, bar, internet access, spa, conference room, and tropical gardens. While at Arenal Springs Resort and Spa you will enjoy a Junior Suite. Junior Suites feature air-conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fan, mini bar stocked with complimentary beverages for two people, telephone, in-room safe, hair dryer, and a terrace area with a view of Arenal Volcano. |
Day 7![]() Free day to explore La Fortuna. This is a fun little tourist geared town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities. Go explore the rainforest, volcano, lake, or contact us for choices of an added activity. |
Day 8![]() Arenal Volcano observation hike at El Silencio Trail. In the afternoon, you will go on an easy level guided hike through the rainforest at the base of the volcano. With a little luck, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out different species of wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, parrots and others. The trail ends at one of the closest safe observation points to the volcano. Following the hike you will be brought to Baldi Hot Springs to relax and bathe in your choice of 22 hot spring pools which are surrounded by tropical gardens and regulated at various temperatures. |
Day 9![]() Transportation will be provided to the Papagayo-Hermosa area which is home to beautiful palm studded beaches. During your visit to the Papagayo-Hermosa area, you will stay at Villa del Sueno. Villa del Sueno is a boutique style hotel located near the beach area of Playa Hermosa. Hotel amenities include pool, restaurant, and bar. While at Villa del Sueno you will enjoy a Junior Suite. Junior Suites feature air-conditioning, sofa bed, mini- refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster oven, TV, balcony, private bathroom, ceiling fan, and telephone. |
Day 10![]() Beach day at Playa Hermosa. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tropical sun on the palm studded beaches of the Pacific coast. |
Day 11![]() ONLY AVAILABLE SUN,MON,WED,FRI. Palo Verde National Park and Guaitil Pottery tour. This tour starts off on a covered riverboat which will take you through the river in the national park. Palo Verde is a birdwatcher's paradise as it is home to the highest concentration of migratory birds in Central America. You will also have a great chance at viewing crocodiles, monkeys, and other wildlife. After the riverboat ride, we will eat lunch and then visit the village of Guaitil to learn about the Chorotega Indians and pottery that they make using Pre-Columbian techniques which have been handed down for many generations. This 7 hour tour includes transportation, guide, lunch, and drinks. |
Day 12![]() Another Playa Hermosa beach day. You can sit back, relax, and perfect that tropical tan, or contact us for choices of an added activity. |
