Day 1 Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to San Jose International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at other airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will be provided to Alajuela. During your visit to Alajuela, you will stay at Xandari Resort & Spa. Xandari Resort and Spa is an upscale luxury resort located in Alajuela. The individually designed villas nestled on a 40-acre plantation overlooking the Central Valley. Hotel amenities include two lap swimming pools, heated outdoor jacuzzi, central dining room with panoramic view of the Central Valley, spa village with holistic services, two gift shops, four kilometers of trails and waterfalls, TV room, internet room and wireless internet connection in the main building. |
Day 2 Transportation will be provided to Tortuguero which is home to numerous species of wildlife and a primary nesting area for Atlantic Green Sea Turtles from July through October. During your visit to Tortuguero, you will stay at Turtle Beach Lodge. Turtle Beach Lodge is a comfortable eco-lodge located between the beach area and the Tortuguero Canals. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, restaurant, bar, nature trails, and internet. While at Turtle Beach Lodge you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Rooms are naturally-ventilated featuring private bathroom with hot water, and garden view. |
Day 3 Tortuguero Canal Tour. This tour is a riverboat ride through the Tortuguero Canals, which are located within the national park. With a little luck and cooperation from Mother Nature, your bilingual guide will point out animals, flora, and fauna that live within this unique eco-system. The Tortuguero Canals are home to many species of wildlife including, but not limited to three species of monkeys, two species of sloths, crocodiles, caimans, various species of amphibians and reptiles, and hundreds of bird species. This tour lasts 2 - 3 hours and includes a bilingual naturalist guide. |
Day 4 Transportation will be provided to the Arenal Volcano area which is not only one of the most beautiful destinations in Central America, but also the Adventure Capital. During your visit to the Arenal Volcano area, you will stay at Arenal Nayara Hotel and Gardens. The 4 star Arenal Nayara Hotel and Gardens is located in front of Arenal Volcano in the resort area outside of La Fortuna. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, jacuzzi, restaurant, bar, internet access, spa, and tropical gardens. While at Arenal Nayara Hotel and Gardens you will enjoy a Casita Deluxe Room. Deluxe Casitas feature air conditioning, cable TV, DVD, CD player, internet access, in-room safe with small-laptop capacity, backyard outside shower, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, and a front balcony with Jacuzzi overlooking the volcano. |
Day 5 Arenal Volcano observation hike at El Silencio Trail. In the afternoon, you will go on an easy level guided hike through the rainforest at the base of the volcano. With a little luck, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out different species of wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, parrots and others. The trail ends at one of the closest safe observation points to the volcano. |
Day 6 Riverboat ride at the Rio Frio and to the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is located near the Nicaragua border and is one of the best places in Costa Rica to observe many species of wildlife in a natural setting. The riverboat is large and has a roof to block the sun or rain. Visitors must bring their passport for this trip. This full day, 8 hour tour includes transportation, bilingual naturalist guide, and lunch. |
Day 7 Transportation will be provided to Monteverde which is located in the cloud forests of the continental divide. During your visit to Monteverde, you will stay at Hidden Canopy Treehouses Boutique Hotel. Hidden Canopy Treehouse Boutique Hotel is a luxury bed and breakfast located near the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Amenities include guest lounge and bar area, take one, leave one library books, portable DVD players, movie collection, assorted board games, and cards. While at Hidden Canopy Treehouses Boutique Hotel you will enjoy a Rising Sun Room. The Rising Sun Treehouse Chalet features a private bath with a stone-waterfall shower, a sitting area, mini bar, coffee bar, in-room safe, hairdryer, and hanging-basket chair with forest view. |
Day 8 Canopy Zipline adventure on the Aventuras Canopy course. The Canopy Zipline is a must do for anybody adventurous that visits Costa Rica. This thrilling high speed, high flying course offers 16 zips up to 600 meters and 80 meters high, 1 rappel, and a Tarzan swing. This 4 hour tour includes transportation, and guide. |
Day 9 Free day to explore Monteverde. This is a fun little tourist geared town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities. Go explore the cloud forest, town, or contact us for choices of an added activity. |
Day 10 Transportation will be provided to the Flamingo-Conchal area which is home to beautiful palm studded beaches. During your visit to the Flamingo-Conchal area, you will stay at Westin Playa Conchal Resort and Spa. Day 11 ONLY AVAILABLE THU,SAT. Rincon de la Vieja National Park Hike. This is a guided hike through the national park and volcanic range. You will pass through areas with natural hot springs, steam vents, and fumaroles at the Las Pilas section. This 7 hour tour includes transportation, guide, lunch, and drinks. |
Day 12 Another Playa Conchal beach day. You can sit back, relax, and perfect that tropical tan, or contact us for choices of an added activity. |

Day 14 Final Day — All good things must come to an end, though memories last a lifetime. Transportation will be provided back to San Jose International Airport scheduled to arrive three hours prior to your departure flight. ¡Pura Vida! |
