Day 1 Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to San Jose International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at other airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will be provided to San Jose which is the capital city. During your visit to San Jose, you will stay at Gran Hotel. The Gran Hotel is conveniently located between national monuments, squares, museums and pedestrian streets in the Historic District of San Jose. Hotel amenities include restaurant, bar, conference room, art gallery, valet parking, and internet. While at Gran Hotel you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Rooms feature air-conditioning, classic wood furniture and desk, 1930 bathtub, Satellite TV, in-room safe, wireless internet, mini bar, ceiling fan, and a view of the courtyard. |
Day 2 Paos Volcano, Doka, La Paz Waterfall Gardens. On the way to Paos Volcano, we will visit Doka Coffee Estate for breakfast and tour to learn the techniques and process in the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden Bean. At the Volcano, we will observe the massive main crater with sulfur fumaroles and learn about the variety of ecosystems in the park. We will continue to La Paz Water Fall Garden for lunch and follow the trail leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. This 10 hour tour includes transportation, bilingual guide, entrance fee to Poas Volcano National Park, entrance fee to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, entrance fee to Coffee Tour, breakfast, and lunch. |
Day 3 Transportation will be provided to Drake Bay which is home to some of the most beautiful palm studded beaches in Costa Rica and an abundance of wildlife in the national park. During your visit to Drake Bay, you will stay at Drake Bay Wildlife Resort. Drake Bay Wildlife Resort is a comfortable eco-lodge located at Drake Bay. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, restaurant, and bar. |
Day 4 Corcovado National Park Tour via the San Pedrillo Station. The day starts off with a boat ride down the coast to the San Pedrillo Station. Then a bilingual naturalist guide will lead you on a voyage to Corcovado National Park. This park is home to about 6,000 species of insects, 500 tree species, 367 bird species, 140 mammal species, 117 amphibian and reptile species, 40 fresh water fish species and abundant flora and fauna. Your guide will point out and describe the various species. In the afternoon with a little luck you will have the opportunity to see dolphins, sea turtles and whales upon you return by boat. This 6 hour tour includes transportation, guide, park entrance, and lunch. |
Day 5 Transportation will be provided to the Arenal Volcano area which is not only one of the most beautiful destinations in Central America, but also the Adventure Capital. During your visit to the Arenal Volcano area, you will stay at Arenal Springs Resort. Arenal Springs Resort is an eco-resort located in the shadow of the imposing Arenal Volcano in the resort area outside of La Fortuna. Hotel amenities include heated hot spring pools, restaurant, bar, internet access, spa, conference room, and tropical gardens. While at Arenal Springs Resort and Spa you will enjoy a Junior Suite. Junior Suites feature air-conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fan, mini bar stocked with complimentary beverages for two people, telephone, in-room safe, hair dryer, and a terrace area with a view of Arenal Volcano. |
Day 6 Free day to explore La Fortuna. This is a fun little tourist geared town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities. Go explore the rainforest, volcano, lake, or contact us for choices of an added activity. |
Day 7 Arenal Volcano observation hike. In the afternoon, you will go on an easy level guided hike through the rainforest at the base of the volcano. With a little luck, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out different species of wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, parrots and others. The trail ends at one of the closest safe observation points to the volcano. |
Day 8 Transportation will be provided to Monteverde which is located in the cloud forests of the continental divide. During your visit to Monteverde, you will stay at Hotel Poco a Poco. Hotel Poco a Poco is a comfortable boutique style hotel located near the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Hotel amenities include restaurant, bar, heated swimming pool, spa, gym, and internet. While at Hotel Poco a Poco you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Rooms feature comfortable orthopedic beds, hair dryer, telephone, coffee maker, cable TV with DVD, and in-room safe. |
Day 9 Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve tour. This is an easy walk through the famous cloud forest which is located at an elevation of 1,350 meters. The cloud forest is an amazing place where one will view life on top of life and many endangered and endemic species. After the hike you will be able to visit the Hummingbird Gallery. This 4 hour tour includes transportation, park entrance, and guide. |
Day 10 Transportation will be provided to Samara which is home to some of the most beautiful palm studded beaches in Costa Rica. During your visit to Samara, you will stay at Hotel El Pequeno Gecko Verde. El Pequeno Gecko Verde is a bungalow style accommodation located just north of Playa Samara. Imagine a haven of peace in a tropical forest, centenarian trees, an amazing garden, a private access from the hotel to a secret beach, your bungalow in the midst of monkeys and birds, a green lagoon colored swimming pool, a palm rancho and an exotic bar. While at Hotel El Pequeno Gecko Verde you will enjoy a Zapote Room. Day 11 Snorkeling Tour to Chora Island. This is a guided tour that starts off on open top kayaks and takes us to Chora Island. Upon arrival to the island we will stop to snorkel in an a location known for abundant tropical fish and the occasional sea turtle. This 4 hour tour includes transportation and guide. |
Day 12 Beach day at Playa Samara. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tropical sun on the palm studded beaches of the Pacific coast. |
Day 13 Transportation will be provided to San Jose which is the capital city. During your visit to San Jose, you will stay at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura. Ramada Herradura is an airport hotel and resort. It also provides one of the largest conference centers in Costa Rica. Hotel amenities include swimming pools, jacuzzis, restaurants, bar, casino, and tropical gardens and Airport Shuttle. While at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura you will enjoy a Superior Room. Superior Rooms feature air conditioning, satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, internet access. |
Day 14 Final Day — All good things must come to an end, though memories last a lifetime. Transportation will be provided back to San Jose International Airport scheduled to arrive three hours prior to your departure flight. ¡Pura Vida! |
