Day 1 Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to San Jose International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at other airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will be provided to the Arenal Volcano area which is not only one of the most beautiful destinations in Central America, but also the Adventure Capital. During your visit to the Arenal Volcano area, you will stay at Arenal Springs Resort. Arenal Springs Resort is an eco-resort located in the shadow of the imposing Arenal Volcano in the resort area outside of La Fortuna. Hotel amenities include heated hot spring pools, restaurant, bar, internet access, spa, conference room, and tropical gardens. While at Arenal Springs Resort and Spa you will enjoy a Junior Suite. Junior Suites feature air-conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fan, mini bar stocked with complimentary beverages for two people, telephone, in-room safe, hair dryer, and a terrace area with a view of Arenal Volcano. |
Day 2 Arenal Volcano observation hike at El Silencio Trail. In the afternoon, you will go on an easy level guided hike through the rainforest at the base of the volcano. With a little luck, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out different species of wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, parrots and others. The trail ends at one of the closest safe observation points to the volcano. Following the hike you will be brought to Baldi Hot Springs to relax and bathe in your choice of 22 hot spring pools which are surrounded by tropical gardens and regulated at various temperatures. |
Day 3 Safari Float on the Rio Penas Blancas. This is a great tour for those that want the fun of whitewater rafting without the rapids. The safari float is done on a rafting boat, but at a much slower pace on a gently rolling river which creates a fun way to observe wildlife along the river edge. Please inform us if you weigh over 200 pounds as restrictions may apply. This half day, 4 hour tour includes transportation, equipment, guide, and snack. |
Day 4 Riverboat ride at the Rio Frio and to the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is located near the Nicaragua border and is one of the best places in Costa Rica to observe many species of wildlife in a natural setting. The riverboat is large and has a roof to block the sun or rain. Visitors must bring their passport for this trip. This full day, 8 hour tour includes transportation, bilingual naturalist guide, and lunch. |
Day 5 Transportation will be provided to Samara which is home to some of the most beautiful palm studded beaches in Costa Rica. During your visit to Samara, you will stay at Hotel Villas Playa Samara. Hotel Villas Playa Samara is a beach front property with villas located a little south of the Samara town center. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, jacuzzi, restaurant, bar, spa, and internet. While at Hotel Villas Playa Samara you will enjoy a Garden View One Bedroom Villa. Garden View One Bedroom Villas feature air conditioning, master bedroom, fully-equipped kitchen, breakfast bar, dining table, and garden view. Day 6 Beach day at Playa Samara. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tropical sun on the palm studded beaches of the Pacific coast. |
Day 7 Sea Turtle Observation tour. This is a tour to Playa Ostional, which is a protected beach area where turtles come to nest and lay eggs nearly every night. Olive Ridley turtles are the most common, though the beach is also utilized by Loggerheads and even Leatherbacks, which are the largest reptile in the world. This is a 4 hour night time tour and includes transportation, guide, park entrance, and drinks. |
Day 8 Dolphin Watching Tour. The coast off of Playa Samara is home to several species of dolphins. The tour is taken on a small Costa Rican style motorized boat. With a little luck and cooperation we will be able to observe the dolphins and possibly whales as they play. This 3 hour tour includes transportation and guide. |
Day 9 Transportation will be provided to Tamarindo which is home to beautiful palm studded beaches which are within walking distance to shops, restaurants and night life. During your visit to Tamarindo, you will stay at Hotel Arco Iris. Hotel Arco Iris is a unique hotel specializing in personalized service and conveniently located within walking distance to the Tamarindo town center and beach area. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, restaurant, tropical gardens, and internet. While at Hotel Arco Iris you will enjoy a Bungalow Room. Bungalows feature air-conditioning, ceiling fan, hair dryer, cable TV, wireless-internet access, in-room safe, refrigerator, mini bar, and a private patio. |
Day 10 Beach day at Playa Tamarindo. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tropical sun on the palm studded beaches of the Pacific coast. |
Day 11 Learn to surf lesson. This is a 2 hour surf lesson on Playa Tamarindo. Though impossible to guaranty, most are able to stand up and ride in small wave by the end of this fun lesson. This tour includes transportation, guide, and board. |
Day 12 Another Playa Tamarindo beach day. You can sit back, relax, and perfect that tropical tan, or contact us for choices of an added activity. |
Day 13 ONLY AVAILABLE THU,SAT. Early morning Birdwatching Tour. Over 850 species of birds have been identified in Costa Rica. While we will not see them all, we will have a great opportunity to view many on this tour. This tour includes transportation, guide, drinks, and snack. |
Day 14 Transportation will be provided to San Jose which is the capital city. During your visit to San Jose, you will stay at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura. Ramada Herradura is an airport hotel and resort. It also provides one of the largest conference centers in Costa Rica. Hotel amenities include swimming pools, jacuzzis, restaurants, bar, casino, and tropical gardens and Airport Shuttle. While at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura you will enjoy a Superior Room. Superior Rooms feature air conditioning, satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, internet access. |
Day 15 Final Day — All good things must come to an end, though memories last a lifetime. Transportation will be provided back to San Jose International Airport scheduled to arrive three hours prior to your departure flight. ¡Pura Vida! |
