Day 1 Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to San Jose International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at other airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will be provided to Puerto Viejo which is home to some of the most beautiful white sand, palm studded beaches in Costa Rica. During your visit to Puerto Viejo, you will stay at Hotel Cariblue. Hotel Cariblue is a Caribbean bungalow style hotel located in Puerto Viejo. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, jacuzzi, restaurant, bar, tropical gardens, and internet. While at Hotel Cariblue you will enjoy a Standard Room. Standard Bungalows feature palm-thatched roof and a porch with hammock or bamboo chairs. |
Day 2 Beach day at Puerto Viejo. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tropical sun on the palm studded beaches of the Caribbean coast. |
Day 3 Cahuita National Park and Snorkeling combo tour. In the morning a bilingual guide will lead you through the diversity of the rain forest where you will see many different species of wildlife, flora and fauna, such as monkeys, sloths, iguanas, spiders, Morphos butterflies, birds, snakes and much more. |
Day 4 Another Puerto Viejo beach day. You can sit back, relax, and perfect that tropical tan, or contact us for choices of an added activity. |
Day 5 Whitewater rafting on the Rio Pacuare. Professional bilingual guides will help navigate you through class III and IV rapids on this thrilling adventure. The Rio Pacuare is a great river for experienced rafters or those in good physical condition. Please inform us if you weigh over 200 pounds as restrictions may apply. No experience necessary on this full day, 11 hour adventure which includes transportation, safety kayaker, guides, lunch and equipment. |
Day 6 Surf day at Puerto Viejo. Surfs up and stress is down. Today you will have a day on your own to hang 10 and walk on water. |
Day 7 Transportation will be provided to the Arenal Volcano area which is not only one of the most beautiful destinations in Central America, but also the Adventure Capital. During your visit to the Arenal Volcano area, you will stay at Arenal Springs Resort. Arenal Springs Resort is an eco-resort located in the shadow of the imposing Arenal Volcano in the resort area outside of La Fortuna. Hotel amenities include heated hot spring pools, restaurant, bar, internet access, spa, conference room, and tropical gardens. While at Arenal Springs Resort and Spa you will enjoy a Junior Suite. Junior Suites feature air-conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fan, mini bar stocked with complimentary beverages for two people, telephone, in-room safe, hair dryer, and a terrace area with a view of Arenal Volcano. |
Day 8 Arenal Volcano observation hike at El Silencio Trail. In the afternoon, you will go on an easy level guided hike through the rainforest at the base of the volcano. With a little luck, your bilingual naturalist guide will point out different species of wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, parrots and others. The trail ends at one of the closest safe observation points to the volcano. |
Day 9 Offroad ATV Tour on a Four Wheeler. As the name implies, this is a thrilling offroad adventure on four wheeled ATVs. This adventure will take you through trails near the volcano at high speeds. This half day, 3 hour tour includes transportation, guide, trail entrances, and snack. |
Day 10 Free day to explore La Fortuna. This is a fun little tourist geared town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities. Go explore the rainforest, volcano, lake, or contact us for choices of an added activity. |
Day 11 Transportation will be provided to Monteverde which is located in the cloud forests of the continental divide. During your visit to Monteverde, you will stay at El Establo Mountain Hotel. El Establo Mountain Hotel is the largest eco-resort and spa in the Monteverde region and located near the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Hotel amenities include 2 indoor heated swimming pools, restaurant, bar, gym, conference center, spa, tennis courts, basketball court, soccer field, and internet. While at El Establo Mountain Hotel you will enjoy a Deluxe Room. Deluxe Rooms feature orthopedic mattresses, telephone, coffee maker, refrigerator, cable TV, alarm-clock, in-room safe, and balcony or terrace with rocking chairs and a view of the Gulf of Nicoya. |
Day 12 Sky Tram and Trek Canopy Zipline. This adventure starts off by taking a gondola style cable car some 1600 meters up through the cloud forest canopy to a hilltop near the Continental Divide. You then go through a safety course and you are on your way zipping down 9 cables with platforms in between towards the bottom of the hill. The longest cable is 770 meters and highest is 130 meters off the ground. |
Day 13 Free day to explore Monteverde. This is a fun little tourist geared town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities. Go explore the cloud forest, town, or contact us for choices of an added activity. |
Day 14 Transportation will be provided to the Papagayo-Hermosa area which is home to beautiful palm studded beaches. During your visit to the Papagayo-Hermosa area, you will stay at Hilton Papagayo Resort and Spa. The Hilton Papagayo Resort and Spa is an all-inclusive tropical retreat located in a secluded, private bay on the Pacific Ocean at the Gulf of Papagayo. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, restaurants, bars, spa, conference room, tennis courts, trails, volleyball courts, and internet. While at Hilton Papagayo Resort and Spa you will enjoy a Tropical Garden Bungalow Room. Tropical Garden Bungalows feature air-conditioning, dark, teak-wood furniture, including comfortable chairs, activity table, flat-screen LCD TV, telephone, clock radio with MP3 connection, in-room safe, mini refrigerator, iron, hair dryer, and a private balcony with tropical views. Day 16 Safari Float Tour on Corobici River. This is a great tour for those that want the fun of whitewater rafting without the rapids. The safari float is done on a rafting boat, but at a much slower pace on a gently rolling river which creates a fun way to observe wildlife along the river edge. Please inform us if you weigh over 200 pounds as restrictions may apply. This 6 hour tour includes transportation, equipment, guide, and lunch. |

Day 18 Transportation will be provided to San Jose which is the capital city. During your visit to San Jose, you will stay at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura. Ramada Herradura is an airport hotel and resort. It also provides one of the largest conference centers in Costa Rica. Hotel amenities include swimming pools, jacuzzis, restaurants, bar, casino, and tropical gardens and Airport Shuttle. While at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura you will enjoy a Superior Room. Superior Rooms feature air conditioning, satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, internet access. |
Day 19 San Jose City Tour. This tour familiarizes you with Costa Rican culture, visiting museums and historic sites of San Jose including the National Theater, University of Costa Rica, and the Supreme Court. We will make a brief stop at a souvenir shop giving you the opportunity to bring home a part of Costa Rica. This tour is approximately 5 hours and includes round-trip transportation, bilingual guide, entrance fees to the Gold Museum and the National Theater. |
Day 20 Final Day — All good things must come to an end, though memories last a lifetime. Transportation will be provided back to San Jose International Airport scheduled to arrive three hours prior to your departure flight. ¡Pura Vida! |
