Day 1 Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to San Jose International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at other airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will be provided to the Turrialba Volcano area which is one of Costa Rica?s active volcanoes and an adventure capital. During your visit to Turrialba, you will stay at Hotel Villa Florencia. Hotel Villa Florencia is a comfortable boutique style hotel located near Turrialba Volcano. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, jacuzzi, restaurant, conference room, and internet. While at Hotel Villa Florencia you will enjoy a Standard Room. Day 2 Turrialba Volcano hiking adventure. This is a guided hike that will take us from the upper rings of the rain forest to cloud forest over 10,000 feet in elevation. Turrialba is one of 5 active volcanoes in Costa Rica and we will be able to observe the crater at the peak of the hike. This tour is available for people in good physical condition and includes transportation, lunch and tour guide. | ||||||||||||||||||
Day 3 Archaeological Hike at the Guayabo National Monument. Ancient stone carvings, skillfully engineered Pre-Columbian aqueducts with flowing water, and roads going into the rainforest hints to Costa Rica s mysterious past civilizations. Guayabo National Monument is the most important archaeological site in the country. Shadowed by Turrialba Volcano, this mysterious ancient city of over 10,000 people disappeared prior to the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century. A guide will explain the history of the early inhabitants and these ancient excavations that hold a world of mysteries and unanswered questions. This tour includes a bilingual guide, gear, and round-trip transportation. | ||||||||||||||||||
Day 4 Transportation will be provided to Uvita which is home to some of the most beautiful palm studded beaches in Costa Rica and an abundance of wildlife in the national park. During your visit to Uvita, you will stay at La Cusinga Eco Lodge. La Cusinga Eco Lodge is an eco-lodge and wildlife refuge located just south of Uvita. The refuge protects some 250 hectares of land which is covered with primary rainforest, teaming with wildlife, and fronts an amazingly beautiful beach along the south Pacific coast. Hotel amenities include restaurant, nature trails, yoga platform, spa, and internet. While at La Cusinga Eco Lodge you will enjoy a Ocean View Superior Double Room. Ocean View Superior Double Rooms feature natural ventilation, with a panoramic view of the ocean. | ||||||||||||||||||
Day 5 Corcovado National Park Tour. The day starts off with a drive down the coast and boat ride through the Sierpe Mangroves out to the Pacific Ocean and down to the wilds of the Osa Peninsula. Then a bilingual naturalist guide will lead you on a voyage to Corcovado National Park. This park is home to about 6,000 species of insects, 500 tree species, 367 bird species, 140 mammal species, 117 amphibian and reptile species, 40 fresh water fish species and abundant flora and fauna. Your guide will point out and describe the various species. In the afternoon with a little luck you will have the opportunity to see dolphins, sea turtles and whales upon you return by boat. This 11.5 hour tour includes transportation, guide, park entrance, and lunch. | ||||||||||||||||||
Day 6 Beach day at Playa Uvita. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tropical sun on the palm studded beaches of the Pacific coast. | ||||||||||||||||||
Day 7 Final Day — All good things must come to an end, though memories last a lifetime. Transportation will be provided back to San Jose International Airport scheduled to arrive three hours prior to your departure flight. ¡Pura Vida! | ||||||||||||||||||
