Costa Rica September

Costa Rica September Weather:

This is the Caribbean coastal region's driest month – especially in the southern coastal area. This is significant because directly to the west (less than 100 miles west) in the Osa Peninsula, and all the way up to Quepos, they will be experiencing the temporales del Pacifico. They will have days, even weeks of continuous rain measured in feet (not inches)! This is not greatest time to plan visiting this area.

But, as stated, this is a great time to explore the southern Caribbean region. The temperatures will remain high - up to the 90's, but with less humidity and little rain it will be not only beautiful, but comfortable.

The northern Pacific coast, central valley, and upper elevations continue to have rain most days, but mainly as a late afternoon or early evening shower, with temperatures in mid 80's to low 90's in coastal areas, 10 degrees cooler in San Jose and central valley, 20 degrees cooler in higher elevations.

Costa Rica September Reservations:

It is the green season and therefore relatively easy to get a good room at a good price. To get the best values, watch for a bargains and book quickly as they run out fast. Travel to the Osa Peninsula is not advisable during this month as many places are close. The Southern Caribbean remains a good value despite their great weather during the month of September—word is getting out about this, so don't wait to the last minute to book.

Costa Rica September Costs:

Green season pricing at 20 – 40 percent off is still good thru the month of September.

Costa Rica September Holidays and Festivals:

9/15- Independence Day- from Spain in 1821 – Marked with parades, dancers, street parties and the arrival of the Freedom Torch carried from Nicaragua by relay runners. Everyone in the country stops and simultaneously sings the national anthem. In the evening children carry lanterns thru the streets of their town.
