Overview

Surrounded by the lush forests of the Punta Rio Claro National Wildlife Refuge in Drake Bay, Punta Marenco Lodge is an ecotourists paradise. The private bungalows are set on a hill overlooking the beach which is only a few minutes walk away. Hotel amenities include a restaurant, bar, and nature trails.

The beaches of Drake Bay are both remote and beautiful. You may end up being the only person in sight and it is likely that there will be monkeys and macaws than people! Trails along the beach and in the refuge can be used for wildlife observation or just a relaxing stroll.

Of course, Corcovado National Park is the main attraction in the area. This is one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth and amazing place to observe wild and exotic animals. Cano Island is only 12 miles off the coast, providing excellent scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities. The coast off of the Osa Peninsula is also a fantastic place to observe dolphins and whales.

Rooms at Punta Marenco Lodge are quite basic with a bed, private bathroom, and private porches. There is no air-conditioning or television in the rooms. The views, however, can be breathtaking.

NOTES: You cannot drive to this lodge. Guests must either fly to Drake Bay Airport and add a transfer or take a boat from Sierpe, both of which have luggage limitations - call us for details.
