Imagine glamor camping on an uninhabited island dining on raw oysters, tuna tartar, and freshly caught fish. If you love everything about camping except schlepping tons of gear, the hard wet ground, and eating freeze dried foods, then welcome to Paradise! Isla Chiquita Costa Rica offers the ultimate camping experience on a tiny island off the Nicoya Peninsula. A tent resort featuring 15 luxury tents on raised covered platforms, with ceiling fans and a wide lounging deck, provides creature comforts in secluded shady areas surrounded by ocean breezes. An onsite gourmet restaurant will satisfy even a vegetarian with exquisitely prepared cuisine.
You come to Costa Rica to immerse yourself in Nature, enjoy the tropical climate, and relax away from the responsibilities of everyday life. At Isla Chiquita’s tent resort, you can do all this effortlessly, from the moment you are picked up by boat, leaving all your cares behind. You may prefer to kick off your shoes and walk barefoot the whole time you’re on the island. And while you’re at it, why not kick back with a perfectly mixed umbrella drink, herbal lemonade or fresh fruit smoothie?
Besides walking the beach, exploring the island, and swimming in the calm ocean waters protected by Paquera Bay, Isla Chiquita includes kayaks and stand-up paddle boards for your use. A guided night hike can take you to see the magical bio-luminescence of micro-organisms found at certain times in the ocean. Guided birdwatching, sport fishing, and island hopping adventures are available plus other off island tours can be arranged.
For the ultimate relaxation experience, bring a book or pair of binoculars and just lounge around listening to the sounds of the surrounding rainforest, watching birds as they catch the air currents or gazing at incredible sunsets before a canopy of stars ignite. This resort does not have a swimming pool but the whole ocean invites you to take a dip.
A feast of seafood delicacies appears on the moderately priced menu. For starters, you can sample a timbale of tuna tartar, croquettes with mango sauce, or enjoy a choice of shrimp cocktail, fresh ceviche, and fried calamari. Main dishes include fillet of tuna in fennel sauce, grilled octopus, or ocean sea bass with mashed cassava. Pork chops, grilled tenderloin and gourmet chicken dishes are also available. Soups and salad creations, along with a pizza menu, round out the choices for dinner with plenty of fresh vegetable options for vegetarians. The menu for breakfast and lunch reflect the same quality of culinary delights. Breakfast is included.
The glamping concept creates glamorous outdoor camping with resort-like luxury. Each camping area features a large airy tent secured to a huge wrap around deck containing a king size bed with headboard, a day bed, mini-bar, double sink bathroom with hot water shower, clothes storage area, bedside lamp, overhead lighting, and ceiling fans. These hotel room sized tents have windows, screens, and curtains. Two reclining lounge chairs plus a table with 2 chairs are found on the deck protected by a full canvas deck cover providing extra coverage for the tent as well. All glamping tents have ocean views.
