Ticos are known for their artistic abilities. Many artisons can be found in Grecia and Sarchi, which are known for painted oxcarts and hand crafted furniture. Unique Costa Rica arts and crafts can be purchased at nearly every souvenir stand in the country. Much of the art in Costa Rica claims root from an indigenous culture that was nearly erased by the Spanish conquistadors. The rich culture of these people has survived in the form of arts and crafts.

National Museum:
Located in the capital city San Jose, this Costa Rica museum houses exhibits on Pre-Columbian history, various Costa Rica arts, and Costa Rica historical objects.
The museum is open from 8:30am - 4:30pm Tues. - Sat. and 9am - 4:30pm on Sun.
Entrance fee: 200 colones, children under 10 free.
Gold Museum:
Located in the capital city San Jose, this Costa Rica museum houses thousands of pieces of Pre-Columbian gold artifacts arts.
The museum is open from 9:30am - 5pm
Entrance fee: $6 adults, $3 students, 80 cents children under 12
Museum of Costa Rica Art
Located in San Jose, this Costa Rica museum exhibits many of the country's finest examples of art.
The museum is open from 9am - 5pm Tues. - Fri. and 10am - 4pm on Sat. & Sun.
Entrance fee: $5 adults, $3 students, free for children and senior citizens. Free for everyone on Sundays.
National Theater
The architecture of the National Theater is unrivaled in all of Costa Rica. This masterpiece was constructed in 1891 and became open to public in 1897 for opera theater and dances. These days, the National Theater is a national tourist attraction and hosts several performances per week.
