Costa Rica May Weather:
May is the beginning of the rainy season or the “green season” over most of Costa Rica. But this does not mean it rains continuously. Usually the pattern is rain in late afternoon or overnight. This leaves much of the day rain free for enjoying all your activities. Also, the “green season” is just what is says: green! Plants become lush and green, flowers burst out and Costa Rica once again becomes a tropical paradise. You will want to pack raingear and have it ready, but you will still enjoy plenty of beach time if you are at the beach, and still usually enjoy many of the activities you would enjoy in the dry season.
The Pacific Coastal and lowland regions in the north are hot, with temperatures into the 90’s, but with drier air than the hot and steamy southern Pacific Coastal Osa region. But with some of the best surfing in the world and the most beautiful beaches, you can stay comfortable in the Southern Pacific coastal region. The San Jose and central valley region are delightful with temperatures in the mid 70’s to low 80’s. Expect temperatures in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s in the higher elevations. The Caribbean coast can be hot and steamy with the high temperatures and high humidity.
Costa Rica May Reservations:
May is the beginning of the green season which means lower prices and less tourists. But more retirees are discovering this is a good time to get value for their money, so it is still good to book in advance to get the best deals. But travelers can still get a good room at a good price without booking months in advance.
Costa Rica May Costs:
You can get good deals over the high season prices (usually 20 – 40% lower than high season pricing), but they will be found by booking in advance and not last minute. Our company often offers special deals- look for these deals and book quickly as they go fast.
