The high, cool elevation of the Colinas del Poas Canopy Tour creates a natural paradise for your ziplining experience. You’ll be surrounded by breathtaking scenery as you soar above the forest floor. This is the closest canopy tour from San Jose and the company prides itself on its safety and natural beauty.

Your day begins when you are picked up from your hotel and driven to the Colinas del Poas main office. You’ll sign in and meet your friendly experienced bilingual guides who will help you as you suit up in the harness, helmet and gloves. They will go over detailed safety and zipline instructions explaining how to easily use the hand brake to slow down.

You’ll hike to the first platform with a group of like-minded daredevils who wish to experience the thrill of a lifetime. This adventure is highly recommended for adrenaline junkies and nature lovers of all ages, especially energetic children. People have even conquered their fear of heights here after just two cables!

When you climb up to the first platform, your guide will securely attach your harness to the cable and demonstrate the breaking system. On the count of three you’ll take a leap and glide across the cable, zooming high above the forest floor. After a few seconds, you’ll see the next platform getting closer where a second guide will receive you safely. Soon you’ll feel the exhilaration of flying through the rainforest getting pumped up and ready to try out the famous Tarzan Swing.

The Tarzan Swing gives a twist to the traditional zipline experience. Standing on a sturdy platform with a strong rope securely fastened to your harness, you’ll grab hold of the rope with both hands. Stepping off, you’ll swing back and forth through the forest like the ape man in the movies.

This well-built zipline course features 12 steel cables running through different ecosystems exposing you to a lush, natural rainforest canopy, as well as manicured gardens and wide open expanses with spectacular views.

Your adventure guides will share a wealth of information about the area surrounding you and the creatures who live there. They’ll point out and identify any visible wildlife on the day of your visit and tell you interesting information about the local natural history.

After the canopy zip line tour, your group will head back to the on-site restaurant for a delicious buffet lunch with beverages. You will then be driven back to your hotel.

This tour includes bilingual guides, admission fee, lunch, plus transportation from Alajuela, Alajuela suburbs, Heredia, and San Jose. One way transport can take between 1 and 2 hours depending on the location of your hotel and traffic conditions. Total time of zipline tour, lunch and round-trip transport typically takes between 5 and 6.5 hours.

Because of the high altitude, you’ll want to wear sunscreen plus bring a sweater or jacket. You will need to wear long pants and fully enclosed shoes. Be sure any loose items like your camera or keys can be zipped safely in a pocket or backpack. Children age 5 and up may participate.

This is a great place to get your zip on!
