Hermosa de Jaco

There are several Playa Hermosas in Costa Rica. The words literally translate to Beautiful Beach. This particular Playa Hermosa is located just south of Jaco along the Central Pacific coast. There is no town center, rather a few connecting streets along the beach. This popular beach is known for BIG waves and surfing at a world class level. They even have an international pro surfing competition every August. Having said that, this is not a swimmer's beach. The riptides, currents and surf do not forgive the inexperienced!
There is no shortage of hotels at Playa Hermosa. They line the beach and are available for backpackers to luxury condominium options. There are several restaurants and a couple bars. If you want a little more such as shopping, Playa Jaco is a 5 minute drive away.
Weather and Packing List
Central Pacific temperatures remain the same nearly year round with average day time highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and night time lows in the upper 70s. Precipitation varies by month with the months of December through April being the driest.
Visitors should pack a bathing suit, towel, shorts, tee shirts, appropriate shoes, rain gear, sun block, and insect repellent.
