Costa Rica Safe Travel

Costa Rica is a wonderful and safe country to visit.  It has the most stable government in all of Central America.  Costa Rica has no military and has not suffered the turmoil and violence of so many of the neighboring countries.  Costa Ricans (Ticos) are basically very warm, friendly, and non-violent.

You will find most Ticos live a simple life and have a good education.  The literacy rate in Costa Rica is higher than that of any country in the Western Hemisphere! They have a very good health and welfare system that is freely available to all citizens.  You will not find the extremes between incomes that are common in some other countries.  The wealth of the nation is more evenly distributed between the population, which leads to a happier and more satisfied society on the whole.

But as is the case in any country in the world, there is crime and drugs do exist.  But these problems are no bigger than in any other area.  You would want to exercise the same caution around cities in Costa Rica that you would exercise in any city worldwide.  You want to exercise the same common sense regarding your personal belongings that you would anywhere you travel.  Remember the saying:  “Don’t check your common sense with your baggage!”, and you will have a wonderful visit in Costa Rica.

We would like for you to also be knowledgeable about some other things you may or may not encounter during your trip.  We hope this advice will be helpful if you experience any of the following situations.

We are here in Costa Rica, and we want you safe.  If you are a client and do encounter a problem, call us – someone is usually available 24 hours a day (not guaranteed), so you are never alone while you are travelling in Costa Rica!
