Tortuguero National Park can only be accessed by boat through the canals or by plane. The park and canals are home to numerous species of wildlife, including many endangered species. Turtle nesting season is from July through October, with the peak season stretching from August through September. Visitors to Tortuguero can expect rainy weather during most times of the year.
The entrance fee to Tortuguero National Park was recently raised to $10 for foreign visitors. It is however, highly recommended to go with a professional guide, as the animals that inhabit the Costa Rica rainforests camoflauge very well to their surroundings. |
