Alajuela, Costa Rica is the capital city of the Province of Alajuela. It is also the home of Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO). Many do not reallize this, as the airport is commonly refered to as San Jose Airport. The reason for this common misconception is the fact that San Jose is Costa Rica's capital city and located just 20 kilometers away.
Alajuela is located in the Central Valley of Costa Rica. The weather in Alajuela is considered by many to be among the most comfortable climates in the world. The city and surrounding communities are home to many retirees that came to enjoy the nearly perfect weather conditions.
