La Fortuna is one of Costa Rica's most popular tourist destinations. This small town gains it's fame as it is the closest village to Arenal Volcano. This volcano is one of the most active in the world, erupting every few minutes. Due to it's proximity to Arenal, as well as lush rainforests and raging untamed rivers, La Fortuna is known as Central America's adventure capital.
La Fortuna, Costa Rica is located on the Northern Plains in the Province of Alajuela. The weather in La Fortuna is fairly predictable. Weather is best from December through April, during the dry season months. The months of May through November generally experience higher rainfall totals, with the highest amounts received between August through September.

With so many activities available, La Fortuna is an eco tourist paradise. A visit to this area is not complete without participating in a hike at the base of the volcano, followed by a visit to one of the hot springs.
