Surrounded by rainforest, wildlife is abundant at Villas Altura. Remember to pack your camera and binoculars so that you can take it all in! The Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary is also on the property. A minimum donation of $25 per adult and $15 per child under 13 years is required, which is used to fund the sanctuary as well as an educational program for local shool children.
Guests of Villas Altura can drive to some of the most scenic and deserted beaches in Costa Rica. Dominical is one of the best big wave surfing beaches in the country. Dominicalito also offers surfing and boogie boarding. A further drive south will lead you to the beautiful beaches of Marino Ballena National Park (fee area), where you can swim, surf, and go boogie boarding.
Villas Altura offers tastefully decorated one and two bedroom villas. Bedrooms in the villas are air-conditioned and cozy. All villas offer internet connection, full kitchens, living rooms, and some have a separate dining room. Please note that the villas do not have televisions. Read a comprehensive list of what to expect in your villa in the Amenities Section.
NOTE: While Villas Altura is located in what is considered a coastal area, the hotel is actually positioned in the mountains overlooking the coast. The road that leads to the hotel is unpaved and in poor condition. A 4x4 vehicle is necessary to reach the hotel. Due to the location, it can be difficult finding taxis to get around and therefore, we recommend visitors to rent a 4x4 car for their stay.
