The Rios Tropicales Lodge is a rustic ecolodge located in the middle of the forest at the mouth of the Pacuare Gorge. Set on 2,409 acres of private reserve, guests will be immersed in nature and beautiful surroundings. The lodge offers miles of trails that lead to waterfalls, streams, and river pools, tropical gardens, and a restaurant. Getting there is half the fun as the lodge is only accessible by whitewater rafting in and out on the gorgeous and scenic Pacuare River!
The Pacuare River is set in one of the wildest and most beautiful regions of Costa Rica. The rolling mountains are covered by primary and secondary rainforest, and the river runs through it all. The dense jungles are home to many species of rare and endangered animals as well as many of the more common species. There are even indigenous people that live in villages near the area lodges. There is no grid power in this area, so lodges have to be creative and run on hydroelectric power, which is often limited and used sparingly.
Days at the Rios Tropicales Lodge can be spent relaxing in a hammock overlooking the beautiful river, exploring the lodge's trails, or by adding on an optional activity. For an additional cost (contact us for details), you can add on activities such as the Rainforest Restoration Tour, a Guided Rainforest Hike, Canopy Zipline, Canyoning and Canopy Combo, or a Horseback Riding and Local Community Culture Tour.
The lodge offers a meal plan with your stay as you would have a hard time finding another nearby restaurant! The lodge offers fresh and delicious, locally sourced (when available) meals. Most meats, fish, and produce are purchased from local communities. This ensures the freshest meals possible and helps the locals. All other foods and beverages are rafted or hiked in! Of course, soda, beer, and wine are not included but can be purchased separately.
The no-frills rooms at The Rios Tropicales Lodge are decorated to embrace their surroundings. The Deluxe Rooms are available with either a king bed, two queen beds, or three single beds. These rooms feature natural ventilation, linens, towels, pillows, and private bath with stone-tiled shower stalls. Keep in mind that electricity is often limited.
In summary, the Rios Tropicales Eco-Lodge is remote, rustic, but is a true eco-lodge that provides amazing experiences. You will experience a part of Costa Rica that few tourists are privileged enough to see but at the same time, will sacrifice many modern amenities. So we invite you to turn your phones and laptops off and get ready for an unforgettable moment in time at the Rios Tropicales Lodge!
