Located between both Samara and Carillo beach, Montelaguna Boutique Hotel makes for an ideal boutique style hotel for any beach lover. Though small, this quaint little hotel really mirrors everything Costa Rica’s, Pura Vida is all about. While not a beach front option, the hotel is within a five minute walk to either of these beautiful beaches. Hotel amenities include swimming pool, breakfast station, coffee shop, convenience store and internet access.
The atmosphere of Montelaguna is small, quiet, and calm, giving guests time to relax and enjoy everything Costa Rica has to offer. Though you won’t be located directly on the beach, sometimes that’s a better option. A nice stroll to the beach is a great way to start the day anyways, right? You’ll be able to utilize the amenities of the hotel, while still having access to the beaches of the area.
Samara has a ton to offer as far as exciting tours are concerned. Located on the lower Nicoya Peninsula, Samara receives some nice waves for learning to surf, good snorkeling at Isla de Choro, and pure wildlife habitats. Take a kayaking journey on Rio Ora, watch as sea turtles nest, or get involved with a number of other activities.

This one was more of a walk to the beach than I thought it was, and it was pretty far away from the town. We couldn't just walk to dinner which was unfortunate.
Lovely hotel within about 5-10 min walking from two spectacular beaches. Breakfast maybe not as great as that in other hotels we stayed at (no omelettes made to order, scrambled eggs a bit over cooked, etc.). But the layout and athmosphere of the hotel was greatd. We spent every evening in the restaurant when everyone had eaten playing cards and having a beer or two.
Most comfortable beds of our trip. Staff very helpful (I needed to print, scan and email a document and they helped with all that . . . just one example). Planning a return.
Good breakfasts each day, but NO other food or cafe available without a bus or cab ride. Very good hotel, but better suited if one has a car.
Georgia and Gianmario have a very nice hotel located in a quiet setting. Gated grounds give you security and staff was very attentive - we were the only two guests the last 2 days of our stay. Spent time at Playa Carrillo beach (very close by) and had a short drive to Samara to eat or go to the beach.
Marvelous hosts. Lovely breakfast. Great pool. Abit far from town. We did walk it once but it was too hot. Taxi cost $6 us each way - so maybe mention that beforehand to people. Nice and quiet and laid back.
The hotel restaurant is top notch italian food! The raviolis were fantastic... Great also to be able to walk to the beach.
