Overview

If you are ready to truly try something different, then you are probably ready to Bungee jump. And what better place to do it than from Monteverde, with an altitude of 1500 meters, making it one of the most scenic areas in Costa Rica. Touted to be the highest bungee jump in Central America, this adventure begins high above a sweeping canyon from a suspended tram 143 meters above the ground.

Imagine…

First you’ll board the aerial tram supported by strong cables attached to surrounding mountains as you ease out over the spectacular valley. Floating along in the open tram with only the steel mesh floor beneath you will get your adrenaline pumping even before it is your turn to jump. No time to look at scenery as your every thought will be figuring out how you’re actually going to be brave enough to do this. At the jumping point, the experienced crew will go over the steps ahead.

Next it is your turn to go. Holding on to the overhead bar you will force yourself to move closer to the edge with encouraging help from the crew. Then they start counting: five, four, three two…you might think of a last minute question to buy yourself more time, a seemingly important detail in the moment. The countdown begins again. Suddenly you just decide to jump at the sound of one. What comes next you could never imagine.

Freefalling into the lush Costa Rican landscape you are overcome with the unexpected feeling of being completely motionless. Time stops as you soar though space dispelling all your preconceived expectations. Some have described it as serene happiness, others the thrill of a lifetime.

But wait, you’re not done yet. Reaching the end of your cord, you magically bounce back up which could cause a bout of hysterical laughter. When you stop bouncing, you realize you are hanging upside down by a long cord from a tiny cage above you. Luckily they throw you a rope that you attach to your harness and they pull you back up.

You have now added bungee jumping to your list of extreme adventures. Exhilarated, you realize you have extended yourself beyond your own known boundaries and added a new, unforgettable experience to your life.

Because a Go Pro camera was attached to your helmet, you’ll return to headquarters where you can watch the video of your own descent. At this time you will have an opportunity to buy photos. If you bring your own camera, or car keys or wallet, be sure to have pockets that zip, otherwise you will need to leave your belongings where you signed in. People with health issues should not attempt this sport. This adventure might not be for everybody, but it might be just right for you!

The roads in Monteverde are very bad so the trip there was pretty bumpy and bad for people with motion sickness. Again I would've rather paid for pictures up front had them included in the package rather than having to pay additional when I got there.
