Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica is known for it's laid back reggae vibe and awesome surfing. The area is considered to be an adults playground and not particularly family friendly. There is always a party to be found or a shady palm to rest under. Puerto Viejo is also known for it's beautiful white sand, palm studded beaches. Surfing in Puerto Viejo is best from November through March.
Puerto Viejo is located on the southeast side of the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica in the Limon Province. As Puerto Viejo is located on the Southern Caribbean coast, the weather can be fairly unpredictable. Unlike the rest of the country, this area does not experience the normal rain and dry seasons. The best weather in the Southern Caribbean area can be experienced during the months of February through April, then again in September and October.
