Monteverde is Costa Rica's most famous cloud forest destination. The forests are beautiful and brimming with life. Beautiful and colorful highland tropical birds can be observed in the emerald green jungles, making Monteverde a must-see destination for birdwatching enthusiasts. This area is also home to some of the world's best canopy zipline and canopy hanging bridges tours. The canopy zipline offers a thrilling way to experience the cloud forest as you zip from platform to platform via wheel and harness connect to cables. The hanging bridges offer a unique and amazing way to hike through the cloud forest canopy and observe the plants and animals that inhabit the treetops.
Aside from organized activities, you can also visit the towns of Monteverde and Santa Elena. This area is home to many local artisans, so the galleries are a joy to visit. Strolling around town is also fun. You can mix with the locals, souvenir shop, or stop by one the ice cream or chocolate shops.
Wining and dining at the Senda Monteverde is a delight. You'll start off each day with a complimentary a la carte breakfast and locally grown Costa Rican coffee. The restaurant has a farm to table philosophy, using a fine selection of meats and seafood and locally grown and vegetables, and fruits when possible. The restaurant serves a fusion of international classics and modern Costa Rican dishes under the guidance of celebrated Costa Rican Chef, Carlos Alvarado. In teh evening, be sure to check out the fine selection of South American wines.
The 24 rooms and suites at the Senda Monteverde Hotel are spread out along the hill in contemporary mountain bungalows. Some of the rooms postioned on the upper part of the property have amazing views down to the Pacific. Others have views of the cloud forest and tropical gardens. All rooms have a living space, quality bedding, a mini-bar area with coffee maker, ceiling fans, a laptop size in-room safe, twice daily housekeeping and turndown service, and WiFi so you can stay connected.
The Junior Suites can accommodate two adults or one adult and two children. These rooms have a private bedroom, separated from the living area. The living room is furnished with a table and chairs and a sofa. There are two Junior Suites per casita and they have a small shared terrace. These rooms have a king size bed and a twin day bed but an extra single bed is available on request.
The Senda Suites can accommodate two adults and two children. These are the most spacious rooms, occupying an entire casita. The Senda Suites have two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with two double beds. There is also a living area, minibar, terrace, and two bathrooms.
Premium Suites can accommodate two adults and one child. These rooms have an open layout bedroom and living space, including one king bed and one twin day bed. The Premium Suites have a shared terrace, a living space, and a minibar. These rooms face the west to take advantage of the beautiful sunsets. They also have a view to the Pacific on clear days. There are two Premium Suites per casita.
The Superior Rooms can accommodate two adults. These rooms have a bedroom with a king size bed, separate from the living room, which has a twin size day bed. When the daybed is not in use, the living room has a table and chairs and a sofa. There are two of these rooms per casita with a shared terrace.

We loved staying at the Senda Monteverde hotel. Our accommodations were roomy, clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff was very attentive and welcoming. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, with lots of wildlife transiting the property. The restaurant was very good both for breakfast and dinner. We'd stay there again!

This hotel was incredible!! The staff was wonderful, the food fantastic, the accommodations amazing. We wish we had booked more then 2 nights at this hotel. We look forward to returning to the Senda one day.

We really enjoyed being spoiled in our peaceful little cabana. The nature trails were a bonus, & the staff there was very accommodating! We did long for another restaurant option and chose to walk downtown in the rain.

Senda was phenomenal. Our room was such a delight and the grounds were beautiful, and nicely curated. Restaurant on site is delicious with wonderful service. Close to town, which was nice. The trails on premise as well as the preserve next door are beautiful and expansive. Sitting on the patio and watching the sun go down or listening to the rain was a great way to enjoy the scenery. Can't recommend Senda enough! Shout out to Adán for a really fun cocktail class!

We really loved this hotel. Having a separate bedroom, a very nice outdoor sitting area. We loved being able to walk in the national park, right from the property. They were great about cooking vegan for us.

The plantain cooking experience was great. Welcome cocktail was great after so many hours in the car. Hike through reserve was also very interesting. If we had one extra day, we would have liked to spend it here.

The Senda Hotel was one of our favorites on this trip. Having stayed in other hotels in Monteverde on previous trips, we liked the most. The location is not and convenient but quiet. The grounds are meticulously maintained and there is a nice trail system behind the hotel. Our room was gorgeous! It was simplistic in design but elegant. The staff at this lodge really goes above and beyond and is attentive in every way but at the same time, did not overwhelm us. The restaurant was nice and breakfast was delicious. While we regrettably did not eat lunch or dinner there, we di check out the menu and the prices were far more reasonable than we paid at offsite locations.

The Senda Monteverde was a great hotel for us. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. When we arrived they greeted us with drinks and had our luggage delivered to our room. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and the trails around the nature preserve were quite nice. We really enjoyed just walking around the resort. They also have a very inexpensive shuttle to town ($3 USD) and they helped with making dinner reservations. The breakfast was excellent as was the happy hour snacks and drinks.

The hotel was beautiful! A nice cabin in the woods. The staff was amazing and even tried to help with our spanish. They gave lots of recommendations of things to do around the area. It was raining most of our stay here so we didn't get to see many animals like we hoped. The food wasn't that great and there wasn't too much of a selection like the other two hotels we stayed at.

A truly unique an eco-friendly luxury hotel. Right up my alley. A cabin in the woods feel. This was by far beyond what I could have imagined. Loved that the Aguti forest was right next door to do a night tour and the place was quiet which we loved with not many people. Tatiana at front desk was awesome!

The Senda was awesome, property & staff. Office, restaurant and bar staff were so friendly, we even got a visit from the Chef both nights at dinner. We were surprised with a bottle of bubbly and sweet treats to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, so nice and unexpected of them.
