An old gold mining town, Puerto Jimenez's colorful history enriches its natural setting protecting the entrance to Gulfo Dulce. Located on the Osa Peninsula, this growing town of approximately 1,000 also provides entry to one of Costa Rica's most coveted wilderness areas, the Corcovado National Park. Sport Fishing, ocean activities, and adventure tours are all within easy reach. Some have private outdoor stone garden showers attached to your sleeping quarters. Accessible by car, driving from San Jose can take up to 10 hours and should be done in daylight. Local airlines take only one hour from the capital city. The weight limit for luggage on airlines is 25 pounds per person. A ferry ride from Golfito will bring you directly to Puerto Jimenez.
