Kayaking and Snorkeling

In this kayaking and snorkeling tour you’ll leisurely paddle across the ocean bay to go to a beautiful snorkeling cove. In the cove you’ll witness an abundance of amazing sea creatures as you traverse the underwater landscape. You will then get to spend some time relaxing on a white sandy beach while your guide provides refreshing snacks and drinks.

Your tour will start out when you are picked up from your hotel and driven to a nearby beach called Playa Aquajas. As your guide plunges your kayaks into the water, he will talk about important safety instructions and hand out high-quality lifejackets, and paddles.

As you push off the shore and start paddling along the ocean bay you’ll soon realize that you are smack-dab in the middle of paradise! This area is remarkable due to the beautiful turquoise water and white sand beaches surrounded by lush, green forests and nearby mountain ranges.

Depending on the season, you may be greeted by dolphins or see whales during their migration, but all year round you’ll see the resident marine life teeming in the cove. Plus you will get a good workout with incredible views of the nature surrounding you.

The water is generally pretty calm, but on windy days the waves make paddling a little more challenging. For this reason double kayaks are used providing extra power and support.

When you reach the snorkeling cove you’ll explore another paradise that usually goes unnoticed beneath the water. Often sighted here are sting rays, sea turtles, lobsters, octopus and much more. You will almost always find yourself in the middle of a school of dazzling tropical fish.

Your guide will swim along with you leading the way and pointing out different fascinating ocean creatures. This cove is a quite famous and popular for snorkeling because it is safe and provides snorkelers many opportunities to see a variety of aquatic wildlife.

After snorkeling, you’ll disembark on the island’s beautiful white sand beach. Your guide will crack open a cooler full of tropical fruits and refreshing beverages. Here you will spend some time refueling and explore the island, go sun bathing, or take another opportunity to swim.

When you are all ready to go, you’ll hop back into your kayaks and head back to the mainland. If you take the afternoon tour, you might just get to see the sun starting to set as you paddle your way back to shore.

This snorkeling and kayaking tour includes kayaks, bilingual guide, fruit snacks, beverages, and transportation from Jaco and the Palo Seco-Esterillos area. One way transport from your hotel to the put in point can take between 15 and 30 minutes depending on where you are picked up. Combined time of kayaking, snorkeling and round trip transportation typically takes between 3.5 and 4.5 hours.

Please bring along sunscreen, bathing suit, towel, hat, sun-protective clothing for kayaking, and a waterproof camera. Note: this tour requires at least two people to sign up.
