Overview

Cartegena has a lot to offer, 11 zip lines with 12 suspended platforms nestled in a tropical forest inhabited by Howler monkeys and iguanas, with a very friendly, fun and safety conscious staff. If this is your first time, you’re sure to get “hooked” on zip lining here!

You’ll start out by being picked up from your lodging and brought to Cartagena’s headquarters. You’ll receive a warm welcome as you check in and fruit juice refreshments will be provided as you meet your experienced, professional guides. You will be fitted with a harness that has a pulley attached to it which you will be wearing throughout your activities. You will also wear a hard hat and be given special gloves to wear. Then your guide will go over the safety instructions with you and answer any questions you may have.

Then you will climb a lot of metal stairs to get to the first platform. There, the guides will demonstrate how easy it is to use the zip lining equipment. You will be attached to a safety line at all times, even when climbing the stairs. When you are ready, your pulley will be attached to the zip line cable as well as the harness you are wearing. Your safety line will also be moved over to the cable to ensure your protection. Then off you go zipping over the beautiful forest canopy!

This forest region consist of huge old Guanacaste trees around which are built the platforms where you will be landing going from tree top to tree top. The first lines are level and shorter than the rest to help you build your confidence. This course is especially good for first time beginners with the extra attention you’ll be given. Very soon you can let go of any fear you may have had and begin to enjoy the freedom of flying through the air in this incredible forest canopy.

Home to Howler monkeys, iguanas, and exotic birds to name a few, this tropical forest is the ideal place to try to catch a glimpse of some of Costa Rica’s famous wildlife. Every day is different so there are no guarantees, but your guides will be looking and listening for what may be near enough to see and will be sure to point out any wildlife that may be visible on the day of your visit.

Once you are comfortable, your guides will show you some zip lining tricks you can try like zipping upside down or riding together as couples. Then you will come to the Tarzan Swing, the ultimate experience!

You can bring your own camera but remember anything that is not attached to your person can fall off into the forest! You may consider wearing a strap on your glasses and always wear shoes that are securely attached to your feet, especially helpful when navigating the metal stairs between platforms. Or you can choose to pay to have the guides take photos for you which you will receive on a CD. They will also take photos of any wildlife you may encounter.

Zipping your way back down to ground level, you’ll walk the short distance back to headquarters to remove your harness and return your helmet and gloves. A bottle of cold water will be waiting for you and occasionally fresh fruit refreshments. If you opted for the photo package, you can review your photos on the CD before taking leave of the friendly staff who has made your day a memorable one.

Round trip transportation, professional bilingual guides, zip lining fee and safety equipment as well as bottled water and fruit juice are all included in this half day, ultra exciting adventure. Transport times can be up to 45 minutes each way depending on traffic and the location of your lodging. This is definitely the place to get “hooked” on zip lining!

Great for the price. They cared each of us individually, even cared extra for my 5-yr old daughter.
