Overview

If hiking, rock climbing, and waterfall rappelling sound exciting, then you won’t want to miss this awesome canyoning adventure. Set deep in the rainforest on a private reserve, this tour is for guests staying at the beautifully primitive Pacuare Lodge. This is a moderate activity and a great opportunity for the courageous beginner to learn to rappel.

The tour begins in the lobby of the Lodge where you will meet up with professional fun-loving adventure guides who will first go over all safety procedures. Then your guides will explain the equipment you’ll be using and answer any questions you may have.

You’ll hike about 15 minutes through the rainforest, home to hundreds of species of birds, insects, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals indigenous to the area. Next, you’ll begin a series of adventures including rock climbing, waterfall rappelling, sliding down and swinging from cables, and then the ultimate rappel down into a deep ravine.

This is the perfect opportunity to learn how to rappel as you’ll first practice on shorter rock face walls starting with just a 6-foot drop. You’ll work your way up to 65 feet then you’ll be ready to take on an extreme rappel into El Tesorito Creek. Prepare to get wet!

Flowing from the mountains, this creek creates a gorge in the middle of the lush rainforest surrounded by spectacular scenery. Here you will put your practice into heart pumping action as you descend down a 90-foot cliff!

With adrenaline coursing through your body you’ll easily make your way back down the 15-minute trail to the Lodge with new insight into your ability to push your own boundaries.

The Pacuare Lodge is an eco-lodge with thatched roof bungalows designed to blend in with the forest using sources of natural lighting for minimal impact on the environment. It is nestled within 25,000 acres of protected jungle and is located near the Pacuare River.
