Hop on board this well-reviewed combo tour and experience ocean exploring at its finest. The Combo Tour- Snorkeling, Caves and Whale Watching tour is a nature enthusiast’s dream and an animal lover’s paradise. You’ll travel as a group to visit a number of different areas in search of humpback whales, bottle nosed dolphins and schools of colorful tropical fish. You will also have an opportunity to snorkel in two famous spots, one of which is a natural underwater cave.

There is nothing more amazing than watching a 40 ton Humpback whale show off its beauty with a jump in the air followed by a massive tail splash. This is what thousands of people have been witnessing in the Osa Peninsula area for many years. In fact, this area is considered to be one of the best places for whale and dolphin watching in the world. On this combo tour, depending on the season you’ll be in search of Humpback whales, Bottle Nosed dolphins, Spotted dolphins, sea turtles, bi-color parrot fish and more. Humpback whales visit Costa Rica between mid-July to late October and again in mid-December through late February.

The tour starts off from Uvita beach, where you will meet your friendly and knowledgeable guides and captain. As safety is their number one priority, they will bring on board lifejackets for everyone, lots of water, and go over on board safety rules.

Throughout your trip, you will stop at a few different landmarks to go whale watching and snorkeling, such as the Whale’s Tail, Ballena Island, Tres Hermanas Islets and Ventana Sea Caves. Your captain will choose the best spot for snorkeling (dry season only - please see notes below) depending on that day and you will have the opportunity to take advantage of the high-quality and clean snorkeling gear as you jump into the glimmering ocean waters to explore the colorful underwater world. Your guide and captain will tell you interesting facts about the surrounding vegetation and wildlife you may see.

You will also get to visit the Ventana Caves, a rock formation of over 200 caves created naturally through the tectonic movements of the earth created throughout thousands of years.

During your trip your guide will crack open the cooler and provide fresh tropical fruit, as well as water and beverages while you can relax and enjoy the sunshine and beautiful surroundings in paradise. Included on this half-day tour is bottled water, fresh fruit, guide, boat, snorkeling gear. Transportation can take up to an hour each way depending on lodging location. Please note that snorkeling is only available during the dry months due to visibility.

IMPORTANT: The snorkeling portion of this tour is only reliably good from December through April and is usually not included as an activity the rest of the year. Sometimes, when the weather is cooperative at other times of the year, snorkeling may be offered but should not be expected, and often the water clarity is not great. It is important to consider that if you do not have experience traveling in small boats in the open sea where the boat is constantly moving, you may experience seasickness and dizziness. This is not the responsibility of the provider and often a motion sickness pill will not prevent you from feeling this way. Please take this into consideration before booking the activity as it is your own responsibility, not the tour operator or PTW.

very small boat. Got very nauseous and sea sick ( my fault). But happy we seen some whales.

Sea turtles!! In the wild!!! Wonderful!!!!!!!!!

Amazing tour! However at this time of year it is really less of a combo tour and is basically just a whale watching tour since there's is no snorkeling or caving. But that was fine with us since that is all we wanted to do anyways. Excellent guides and boat captain that we were very respectful of the animals but also got us some amazing sighting opportunities and pictures.

National Geographic quality photos. Our guide and drivers did a great job finding whales. What a day. Thank you

Long drive & wait to get on the boat, but we did see dolphins and whales. The snorkeling was enjoyed by my wife & daughter.

There were no whales which was disappointing. The snorkeling experience was different than what we had experienced in the Caribbean so that part was a little bit disappointing. Having said that, the guide and the driver were great. The beach was absolutely beautiful!

Guide was amazing, spent extra time with us after the tour. Tour itself was great

we did not enjoy our transportation to and from the location the vehicle was below our previous standards
the boat ride experience was great for seeing the dolphins and humpback whale the snorkeling not so great

We only saw 2 whales from far away and it was not possible to snorkel because of low visibility. I also thought it included more caves. PS we were aware that we would probably not do snorkelling given that it is the rainy season.

Absolutely fantastic, the guide was excellent. Friendly and helpful. The Marina was beautiful.

Poor weather meant we were a bit rain battered by the time we returned. Saw whales, though and the snorkelling was fun.

The tour was great. We were able to see the mom and baby humpback whale! The guide showed us other sights and various birds. Unfortunately the water wasn't clear so we were unable to go snorkeling (which we knew was a possibility) but we were able to jump off the boat and go swimming. The guide had a great sense of humor.
Just a note that you get on and off the boat from the shore. The guides had waterproof bags to put cameras and phones in so they didn't get wet in the waves. Just be aware that you will likely get wet getting on and off of the boat. We didn't know this ahead of time but had brought a change of clothes with us so it wasn't a big deal.

This was a perfect morning with a perfect set of personnel. Also very memorable, lots of sights.

Once again love this tour. Great tour guide. Snacks and education
The transfer to Uvita was great as well. I didn't see a spot for this, but I wanted you all to know they did a great job as well.
