When should I reserve is a common question and depends on your individual expectations. There are hundreds of hotels in Costa Rica, just remember this is not a first world country. Few offer the combination of comfort, quality, service, convenience, which equates to overall value. To determine your expectations, consider asking yourself the following questions.

Convenience: Is convenience an important factor in your hotel stay? Do you like to stay in the quiet resort areas or closer to town to be near the action? Are you willing to pay more for off route transfers and tours if your hotel is not conveniently located? Are you willing to spend extra time and money to travel to and from tours?

Overall Value: Overall value can be determined by combining of the aforementioned factors. If the accommodations have a good mixture of these attributes, it can be considered a hotel of high overall value. If not, the overall value would obviously be lowered.
