Enjoy the peace and tranquility of a family-run ecolodge at the Hotel Lomas del Volcan of La Fortuna, Costa Rica. Located at the base of Arenal Volcano, this lodge is as close to the volcano as permitted. Hotel amenities include a bar and restaurant, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, tropical gardens, and Wifi in most public areas.
The Arenal Volcano area offers visitors more tour and activity options than any other location in Costa Rica. A stop by any of the area hot springs is practically a must. The hot springs range in quality and price so that everyone can enjoy them. Adventurers will enjoy rafting on the warm waters of the Rio Balsa or Rio Sarapiqui. Canyoneering in the jungle waterfalls is more fun of monkeys! Canopy zip lining is a blast as well, allowing you to soar through the canopy of the rainforest. Check out the Arenal Hanging Bridges to learn all about the jungle, walk through the canopy, and spot exotic wildlife. Many other fun-filled adventures are awaiting you in Arenal. Check our Arenal Tours page for more details, information, and rates.
Days and evenings at the lodge are typically quiet. The wooden bungalows are spread out between lush landscapes and tropical gardens. There is a one and a half kilometer trail to explore at the base of the volcano. Colorful flowers, tropical plants, and palms surround the beautiful swimming pool area. There is also a Jacuzzi for the cool evenings.
The Lomas Restaurant serves an excellent selection of International and Costa Rican dishes. It is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The El Volcan Bar is also open daily, serving a variety of popular local drinks and some that you may be more familiar with.
The wooden bungalows at Hotel Lomas del Volcan are rustic but charming. All offer terraces with views of Arenal Volcano and the jungle. The rooms come with air-conditioning, cable television, mini-fridge, phone, coffee makers, and WiFi access. A complete list of room amenities is available in the Amenities Section.

Wonderful and memorable location.

Only drawback the cramped pool area, very few sunloungers for size of hotel, but overall loved it

The staff is exceptionally helpful here and the food was delicious

The hotel surpassed my expectations for an eco lodge. It's 5 star as far as I'm concerned. Everyone was pleasant all the time. Helpful. Polite. Each room is its own unit with an outdoor patio to have coffee in the morning just looking at the greenery. So soothing.

The hotel and staff were phenomenal.

Our room had tiny ants. The hotel restaurant was stuffy, with insufficient ventilation; it needs ceiling fans. Other than that, great property. So glad we stayed there.

I was amazed at Lomas Del Volcan setting and location. The bungalows are beautiful and clean. The property is very nicely kept compared to CariBlue. Best place we stayed in CR. Staff are very nice and I like the fact that the breakfast is cooked to order, but I wish there were more options.

Amazing! Already want to go back!

I don't have a clear opinion on the value, because by the time we went I had forgotten rates for individual places. Food was generally more expensive than I'd expected every place in Costa Rica. We enjoyed hiking up the mountain one morning while our bungalow was cleaned. Breakfasts were excellent. I enjoyed going to sleep to the sound of rain on the roof. I was also pleased that they took the Discover card.

Very nice hotel but a bit on the pricey side and location a bit away from the main town

Beautiful lodges, nice hot tub and pool. We were right in front of the volcano so it was spectacular. The breakfast was very good. The staff was very nice and even gave us fruit to take to our room for the morning of our departure since we were leaving before breakfast and I was afraid we would be hungry before getting to the airport. I didn't realize there would not be public transportation like Manuel Antonio but the staff would arrange to take you down for $6.00 or you could walk back after an excursion like we did, but it was a hill the whole way back. Lots of exercise.
