Located in front of one of the prettiest beaches in Costa Rica, Playa Conchal, this sprawling resort with luxurious amenities provides everything you need for a fabulous beach vacation. The 2,400 acres property offers everything from a championship golf course to fine dining to a lagoon style swimming pool. Resort amenities include 7 restaurants and 5 bars, 24 hours room service, swimming pools and whirlpools, 18 hole golf course, an activities center, a spa and wellness center, a fitness gym, weekly activities program, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, snorkelling equipment, nightly shows, and WiFi.
Located in Playa Conchal of Cabo Velas, Guanacaste, the resort is only 45 minutes from Liberia Airport. A 20-minute drive will lead you to nearby Tamarindo for shopping, restaurants, bars, and nightlife. The drive is easy but a taxi or transfer is even easier. The fishing village, Brasilito, is right around the corner from the resort, offering local culture and souvenir shopping.
There is also plenty to do at the resort. Golfers can test their skills on the 18-hole, par 71 Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. Sun worshippers will love to go swimming or snorkeling on the beautiful beach in front of the resort. Or you can indulge in a luxurious spa or beauty salon treatment. Also, the resort offers tennis courts, nightly shows, and a Kids Club.
The All-Inclusive Plan includes meals at select resort restaurants, select alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, 24-hour room service, and a once daily stocking of the refreshment center (a second refill is available for a fee). This plan also includes tennis court use until 6 pm, non-motorized water sports, nightly shows, table games, and access to the Westin Kids Club.
The All-Inclusive Plan does NOT include golf or snacks at the golf course, spa or beauty services, to go meals or drinks, laundry services, motorsports, diving, fishing, transportation, bottle of champagne, wine, or liquor, top shelf liquors, cigarettes or cigars, phone calls, medical services, babysitting, or anything else that is not specifically listed as included.
All rooms at the Westin Playa Conchal Resort are thoughtfully and tastefully decorated, providing everything you need for a comfortable stay. Rooms are equipped with modern amenities including air-conditioning, cable TV, mini-fridge, safe deposit box, phone, coffee service, as well as other amenities detailed in the Amenities Section. Deluxe Junior Suites and Family Junior Suites are 538 ft2 and can sleep up to four. Premium Junior Suites can sleep up to four, have a separate bedroom, and are larger at 861 ft2. The spacious Family Master Suite offer separate living and dining rooms, and a Jacuzzi for two in the master bathroom. These rooms are 1,162 ft2 and can sleep up to four guests.
Westin Club Rooms and Suites are in the newly renovated adults-only section of the resort. This area offers additional luxuries such as access to the Westin Club Lounge, access to select premium alcoholic drinks, access to the Club's private pool with Bali beds and concierge, complimentary internet access in the Lounge and guest rooms, and preferential reservations for golf, tennis, spa, and specialty restaurants. Westin Club Rooms are luxuriously appointed within 474 ft2 and can sleep up to four. The larger Westin Club Suites can accommodate up to four guests within the oversized 990 ft2 rooms. The suites have a separate dining room and a living room with a sofa bed.

The staff was incredible! The food was really good, steaks were just so so. If you like your steak, medium ask for it rare. Sometimes it seemed the servings were small, but you could ask for more if you found a dish you loved! You could get whatever you wanted! And how much you wanted! For us, the adult all inclusive was the way to go! We enjoyed all of the specialty restaurants. Especially the Costa Rica restaurant for breakfast! Cannot say enough good things about Nancy!

This resort was fantastic! Rooms were wonderfully appointed. Before our trip I saw a lot of posts stating that W was better and that the food at the Westin was sub par. This was not our experience. We thought the resort, pool, and restaurants were great, as was the service. We got upgraded to the Adults only club level which was phenomenal. Highly recommend this resort.

We had a wonderful stay at the Westin. The upgraded room was so worth it. Our concierge Javier made sure everything was to our liking. Food was good, entertainment a little lacking. Grounds were well kept including the pool.

My mom had to have the first floor and they were able to move her from 2nd floor to the first but it did take 1.75 hours to check in. We booked in Nov and we were in three different buildings and not close together, I would have throught we would have been closer. We loved the pool, food options and the property, beautiful!!!!

We were a bit disappointed with the beach area - not knowing we would not have a stretch of private beach. But the resort was beautiful and very well maintained. Lots of dining options. I did appreciate that the private citizens selling services were not at all pushy. A simple "no gracias" would send them away.

A gorgeous property and a wonderful place to spend the last days of our holiday. Our one complaint is that the resort is very spread out, which is not a problem for us as we were happy to walk around the beautiful grounds. The problem is that there are shuttles and service vehicles that pass along the footpaths at all hours of the day, so that we were constantly having to get out of the way of these vehicles, some of which seemed to be driving way too fast to be safe.

We loved the all inclusive and restaurants. Laundry was jokingly expensive. $7 per article of clothing. Plus our room smelled if mildew but its on the beach so we understood. We still enjoyed it just less than the other hotel.

The beach wasn’t great, because it was not really fine sand, but ok. Worst part of getting to beach is that you have to walk through people selling things and people selling massages. It’s a very big resort, so although you can walk; sometimes it’s pretty far. Again, they made our celebrations extra with things in our rooms.

The first thing the hotel did was upgrade us to club section ad we are Marriott members. At first we were put in double beds and they were so small that we could not sleep in the same bed (unlike Arenal Springs which also claimed double beds but were more like queen size beds) When the staff came around on day 2 asking how our stay was so far, my husband told them that the beds were too small. Later that day, the hotel upgraded us again to a king sized bed. The attentiveness of the staff, the way they took the time to ask how our stay was, and then to make the necessary changes to make their guests truly happy was beyond our expectations and made our stay a truly relaxing and memorable experience. The monkeys, coati’s and birds everywhere you look are just the cherries on top of a first rate hotel experience. My only complaint would be that the food, for the most part, was mediocre at best. Some of the restaurants had great food. Some had not so great.

Excellent location that want the VIP Club treatment with everything right there. Great spot to spend your whole vacation in Costa Rica. I would not recommend this location if people want to experience the natural life of Costa Rica. It seems like a great big cruise on land, without the ship. Too much for one night. The Westin was a completely different world, compared to El Mangroove. It was a perfect compliment after a couple low key, relaxing days. It was a world within itself and was so much larger compared to El Mangroove. The beach was beautiful. We really appreciated the club area and kid free pool. The only down side was our last night when I was trying to relax and enjoy the quiet kids free pool area. There were a group of kids hanging out and drinking in the pool after. Also, we did not realize that dinner reservations need to be made in advance as they can book out. Luckily, we liked eating late and the staff helped us make reservations at all the restaurants we wanted to enjoy.

Wonderful resort!! We loved everything about this resort except for the dinner reservation system. It was very poorly organized and not automated. We had to fight to get reservations and no one responded. And the restaruatnts weren't even full, when they had said they were full. They were empty but apparently there were no tables to reserve. Made no sense.

We chose this all inclusive resort to finish our trip, to spoil ourselves per the amenities. We are not usually "all inclusive" oriented and we reminded ourselves why we rarely go to such resorts. Despite this we enjoyed
ourselves as planned and we made the most of what was offered. From our first greeting upon arrival we sensed a somewhat "smug" attitude, not as personal and warm as we enjoyed everywhere else. We were spoiled by the "anniversary" extras we had received with genuine warmth and unexpected acknowledgement. At the Westin we felt more like just another number. Although they told us we had been upgraded to a great location we think we would had preferred a little quieter location. Our apparent upgrade was well located per the amenities but the negative was the noise from the loud disco music by the pool and being too close to those "large" groups or parties enjoying the resort a little too much selfishly amplified by alcohol etc . It is an expensive resort well located with a beautiful beach but maybe too large for our comfort. We wanted to relax in the warmth of the surf, sand and sun which we did but I am sure there are other options and better value to exceed our preferences.

Well run and managed for a huge facility. So large and a bit overwhelming. Disappointed in the adjacent beach. The restaurant reservation system was quite annoying; did not feel in a vacation relaxed mode when you had to reserve way ahead of time. In addition, the walk-in meal opportunities were relatively sparse. Next time we will aim for a smaller, more boutique type of establishment.

I was disappointed with the service. I had request distilled water and on check in was asked to pay US $ 18 in cash for it. I found that very odd later as there was no record or proof of this transaction. I found that quite pricey as distilled water is not expensive. I was not charged extra for the same water at Arenal resort. The quality of food was not good at one of the restaurants and the other restaurants was just okay.

The grounds of the resort were beautiful! Vast lawn areas and gardens everywhere. The rooms were comfortable and each of ours had a porch or area to sit out. The pool was huge and not crowded. There were plenty of seats around the pool and many in the shade so we were able to get comfortable without having to "save" seats for our group. The restaurants were able to seat our big group without any trouble. The beach was only a few steps away and offered the most beautiful sunset pictures you could ever wish for. All staff that we interacted with were pleasant and helpful. The best part of our stay there was the monkeys! We didn't need a tour to be able to see them and the other wild life right on the grounds. We had great fun and many photo ops of the monkeys flying from tree to tree and just crossing the grounds right in front of our rooms. The resort was big, but walkable to the restaurants and pools or with a simple phone call, a shuttle was sent quickly to your room or where ever to transport you to your destination. Again, at this resort, check in was ready for us and the staff was organized and helped us quickly through the process of getting room assignments, keys and info about the resort. Check out was quick and easy and shuttles were sent right on time for luggage pickup. I would stay there again and have not a single doubt about recommending this resort to others.

This is a beautiful spot. The bungalows are really spacious and lovely. The beach is a bit underwhelming. Right outside the resort you are met by a ton of locals asking if you want a massage or tour. The Westin does not own the beach so you feel kind of attacked going to the beach. The beach is nice but it has a lot of shells. The pool is great but it is hot. They really can't keep it cool enough to be refreshing. That said, the staff are amazing. The food is great. The grounds are beautiful and we saw at least two dozen monkeys. It's lovely. I just felt like compared to Arenal Springs, it felt more "American Costa Rica" than authentic "Costa Rica".

The pools could have been cleaner. Some staff, like the ones at the bar and the concierge were really friendly and helpful. Others were less so. This was a less well oiled machine. There seemed to be a lot of confusion internally about various things. However, we were glad we opted for the westin club for the adults only section.we found that upgrade to be really worth it!

We had so much fun here. We loved the beach and the huge pools. The food was good. Trying to get reservations for dinner was a bit tricky as they were each only open on certain days and we had to coordinate around an evening excursion. There was a bit of a language barrier that made figuring out a question we had about trying to stay in our room for the last night hard to out, but in the end it worked out perfectly.

The resort was absolutely beautiful! We really liked being in the adults-only section, but having access to all of the resort. Everyone spoke English well, but not as well as those at Arenal resort. Javier was our concierge, and he helped us get our Covid tests scheduled. Toward our second to last day on the resort, my husband and I were walking back to our room, and one of the employees stopped to give us a ride. He recognized my husbands tattoos and asked if we lost our souvenir bag. I didn't even know I accidentally dropped it on check-in, but all the staff was alerted and kept an eye out for us. I don't remember his name, but we were so impressed and pleased with him for finding us and getting our bag back to us! Service was very good here.

We had an amazing stay at the Westin. Everyone of the staff members we had interactions with were wonderful. From the housekeeping, greeting staff, kitchen, pool, etc... They all were so nice & accommodating while really making it their mission for us to enjoy our stay. The beach & pool are both fantastic. We spent our free day enjoying drinks and swimming in both with a little beach yoga in between. We enjoyed each & every meal here from breakfast to dinner at each restaurant. The food was top notch. Lastly, the nightly shows were a great way to wind down from each day after dinner. 10/10 stay

After being at the Arenal Springs the feel of this resort was a let down. It was big and impersonal, but this was our own choice. The food was great, and the service was good, typical all inclusive. I wish we would have done another boutique resort for the experience but this was nice for the kids to get whatever they wanted w/out stress of extra money. The beach was amazing. The beach chair guy was very nice and accommodating. We enjoyed being able to shop & get excursions on the beach. The massage ladies were a bit annoying but manageable. The pool bartenders were mostly grumpy and made us leave the bar (because of covid) so that was sort of upsetting, but I guess understandable. Wearing a mask everywhere was also super annoying, they were very strict about it, which I guess is good for their standards. We were bummed we were unable to get restaurant reservations we desired due to it being filled up before we got there, which we felt was very unfair. The rooms were very well laid out and comfortable. Our refrigerator did not shut right so it didn't stay very cold, but we made it work. The beds were super comfortable! The guys enjoyed the golf course. Overall it was a fine resort but we would not come back to this resort if we were in Costa Rica again.

Huge, glamorous resort; one of the nicest weve ever seen. Iguanas, Coatis and exotic birds, beautiful palms and other trees and flowers are everywhere, gorgeous small beach (with $20 massages right at the entrance!). Massive creative luxe pools with swimup bars and food. Too many restaurants to count, dozens of bars, stores on site. Our room was basically a condo with a huge luxury bath and a living room. (some small maintenance issues but quickly fixed), we even had a private porch with comfy rocking chairs. Staff is off the chart with almost no exceptions; walking is great but there are shuttles everywhere you can just hop on. We needed an atm: they picked us up at our room on 2 minutes notice, drove us to the lbbby, waited an drove us back. we'll be back. Pro tip: pay extra for the club rooms (family club or one of the others). They're not just bigger and better located, but the best restaurant and the much better pool area are exclusive to the club rooms. That pool has 1/10 the crowds and noise, insanely great towels, a topnotch bar and restaurant poolside, palm trese shade, an inpool spa and concierges that cater to your whims. Way worth it..

Cant say enough good things about this hotel. Our concierges, Bergen and Jairo, so very helpful! I could have spent more time here and skipped the zip lining and spent less time in the rain forest altogether! Wished we could have seen the beach from the resort but otherwise it was wonderful.

Our first time in an all inclusive resort with this quality. Our Concierges Bergen and Jairo were outstanding. The food was excellent included breakfast, room service and dinners with great variety.

Internet didn't work in our room half the time. We called multiple times but either they couldn't fix it or it would be fixed for a few hours and then go out again. TV also went out. For the price we spent too much time on repairs. Also did not like that by the time we got there it was hard to get reservations for dinner at the different restaurants. You should be told ahead of time to get reservations or they should hold reservations for when new people check in.

For a name brand resort, it was really nice! The staff was great, the food was excellent, and the room was clean. For me, I prefer smaller more local resorts, so this was nice to try but not my favorite. I think it's a little expensive compared to other more intimate/cozy resorts I've been at.

If you’re staying at an all inclusive, this one was GREAT! Food was really good, our only complaint was it was the same types of choices just prepared differently at all the restaurants. Not a make or break it deal though, at all. I would highly recommend staying in the Royal Beach Club, the pool was nicer and quieter and just a lot more luxurious.

This was such a beautiful resort. Every staff member was so nice and accommodating. The beach was gorgeous. My only complaint was the sound of ATVs that interfered with the tranquility of the surroundings.

The Westin is a large, very accommodating all inclusive resort that exceeded my expectations. Since my group of 7 persons are all adults, I'm very glad that I decided to stay at the adults only Royal Beach Club. I highly recommend that for all adults without children. I'm not sure we would have liked this resort as much if we did not stay at the RBC. All the staff there were outstanding. My only issue is that the service at the restaurants was a bit slow, but that was really ok. Also we had trouble getting an onsite golf cart for rides at times. But the pools and amenities there are very, very nice. The bartenders at the pool bar were usually always prompt to get drinks. One special moment was after 4 of us went on a local fishing trip and caught tuna, the hotel allowed us to bring the fresh fish to one of the restaurants to cook for us, just as we wanted it. It was delicious! Overall, the food at the resort was pretty good. We went to 4 different restaurants and all were very good. All over the resort are plenty of wildlife...lots of birds, iguanas, and monkeys. Generally it was a nice experience, but it may have been much more than I needed. It may have not been the best value, but since it was already paid for, it was fine.

The hotel was a bit too big and the main pool was a little too rowdy for us. The staff was hit or miss as far as service and attentiveness. The grounds were beautiful and extremely well maintained. The reception areas were extremely helpful and nice. The private pool area and Faisenella were absolutely the best part of the stay.

We were very pleased with this resort. Eduardo was our very first shuttle driver escorting us to our rooms. He introduced himself and ask for our individual names which he remembered and would call out and waive to us every time we saw him around the resort. This really added a personal touch to the experience. The only negative comment I have is with their dinner reservation system. We could not get anyone to answer the phone. We tracked an employee down and asked them for help. They also could not get anyone to answer the phone and had to call a manager for assistance.

we had to move rooms once ended up a pool side room and from then on it was a nightmare, loud music all day long and half the night, called the office 3 times to complain but nothing was ever done, everyday the music from the pool went on all day and then moved to the family club house until all hours of the night ,[ no sleep] just young drunk punks running around all night long, called front office but nothing happened to cure the problem, would not stay their again and would not recommend for any one looking for a relaxing holiday, stay far away and stay at the arenal springs and spa and you will be very happy your complaints will be looked after

Its a nice property, it could use another pool as it felt crowded. Our towels were dirty but got them changed right away. The food was good, the staff were very accommodating, I can't say enough about the friendly staff.

food was terrific. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Donald Garcia, a bartender/manager in the Astria bar was phenomenal. In addition to great service he was a true ambassador for the resort. They are lucky to have him. It would have been nice to have more space around the pool to hang out.

Only one restaurant was poor service and poor food quality (Latin Americans). I would have liked more information on how to get into town to see more of the area. Saw the most wild life right outside our door than any other place.

This property is beautiful!! The beach is gorgeous. The people are friendly. I was upgraded to the adult only section at no additional charge. That makes this person who doesn't have children very happy! On my walk to breakfast the last day I ran into about 30 monkeys having a blast swing and talking in the trees. Then on the way back from breakfast I ran in to a bunch coati. That really made my day! I got great pics and video.

Problem daily with the Air Conditioning. We complained numerous times before someone came to check it. They finally changed the unit. But it still never worked properly. We were lucky it wasnt too hot this week. We did not like the beach area and did not know you could not bring a chair or have drinks on the beach. This should be stated. Was a very big disappointment. WE had to take a 50$ shuttle to a local beach to lay on chairs. The food was excellent, but you had to have a reservation for every restaurant , except the main buffet which was not as good and fancy as the sit down places. We had an issue with a hostess not seating us because we were early for our reservation, the place was empty. We went somewhere else, and with lots of wonderful help from our Beach Club concierge he was able to get us a wonderful table and food without a reservation! We were glad we paid extra for the adult area. Was worth the extra !

This resort was 10-star but the feeling was less intimate. The staff are super friendly but make less eye contact than Arenal. It's more of an American feeling than Costa Rican. That's not a complaint because we really loved it, it's just an observation.

PERFECT! When we arrived the staff had even reserved restaurants for us! Food was good, facilities were fantastic, staff was attentive and pleasant. There was always a grouping of chairs available at pool, even though peak period.
New Years' celebration was spectacular. The hotel really did a terrific job!

The hotel was generally nice, but felt too big and could have been anywhere in the world. The beach access was also limited and filled with people trying to sell things immediately on beach arrival. The staff were awesome. Just not all all the experience we were looking for.

Again, fantastic place. Great service and amenities. Beautiful. Great beach. Loved all the bars. The only issue we had was finding a place open in-between meal times.
On a side note: Being at an all-inclusive put a damper on getting out and exploring the area. There are so many fun and interesting places to dine and see (like in Tamarindo). So many artists selling their work that we did not get to see.

This was a top end resort. I liked the all inclusive value. Great food and pool was amazing. I didn't expect the vendors on beach but ended up getting a great massage for $20 USD. We didn't go on beach (red tide day 1) but the pool and grounds were good. I was expecting a big beach with cabanas for some reason. Like Aruba. Anyway. Beautiful place and comfortable. Really like it.

Our room was not ready upon arrival but we were able to get wristbands,eat lunch & use facilities. We were really disappointed that there were no beach chairs, and that vendors (massages) harass you when trying to access the beach. No restaurants are water front, surprisingly. We added this resort for the beach access, and it was basically a let down. Bugs in our bathroom, but nice rooms overall. Lots of cats on our porch, and pizotes galore.

The service in the French restaurant was very poor, main dishes not available, the Latin American restaurant was the same, very bad services, cold food, their answer to us, was that they were very busy.
We book a five stars hotel with beach, not a hotel with access to a public beach, we were not able to enjoy the beach, not chairs or service in the beach.
In the other hand the tour staff was great, we enjoy our tours.
Now we are home and find out and extra charge of $140.00 in the credit card, we are hoping to resolve this issue with the hotel as soon as possible

A little problem with our air conditioning - appeared to be stuck on a cooler temperature but resolved. Restaurant choices were very good, food wonderful and all in all...pleasant staff, attentive and always smiling and a pleasant experience.

Hotel is huge and very influenced towards the American guests / culture. As a couple we were glad we stayed at the Royal Beach Club - at times there were only a few other couples around the pool which meant it was very quiet most of the time. The other part of the hotel was much noisier and had a bit of a Disney feel to it. Some restaurants were so large that they seemed factory like and in these some of the service staff lacked any personable qualities. We liked the Italian and some of the other smaller restaurants but that is a matter of personal choice. The food ranged from ok to good - but they were catering for a large number of people which has an understandable impact.

Positives were the facilities and the staff. Negatives were the beach, the restaurants, and a number of issues that We group under "communications". Ref the beach - not a problem with it being public, but the sand was coarse and there was a significant problem undertow - one does not see a lot of people in the water.

The resort was beautiful, had everything you could imagine, and the staff was very friendly. The food wasn't that great and we had to avoid the beach all together because pedelors lined the entrance and beach to try to sell you their goods or services.

Everyone on staff was great! If I had to complain, the breakfast was sub par (every other meal was great) and it was kind of annoying having to move out of the way for trucks driving through the hotel all day. Otherwise, it was beautiful.

The resort was very nice but the beach area is not really made good use of by the resort. The resort did not have enough lounge chairs or umbrellas for the people who wanted to be on the beach so we had to go by the pool with the typical rowdy over drinking all inclusive goers. Over all the resort is very nice especially if you golf but it did not compare with our first resort and we are not sure if many could.

The hotel was very spread out. We either had long walks to eat and beach or had to call for transport. The beach wasn't that nice and you had to walk thru hawkers to get there! The pool was very nice. Unfortunately I became ill, the hotel Dr. Took care of me and the cleaning staff were very quick to assist and cleanup for me!!

When we checked in, they initially wanted to put us in two different bungalow's. I requested we at least be in the same bungalow, they made it happen. Too bad the area is in an extended drought. The place would I'm sure look even more terrific.

Westin was spacious and clean and the staff was very attentive. We were really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the restaurants! In retrospect, I wish we hadn't asked for an all-inclusive resort but again, that was our choice. The two issues we had with the Westin - and a lot of other guests were grousing too - was no free Wi-Fi in the rooms and, more critical, the pool deck is so slippery as to be treacherous! I fell and saw other people, including servers, fall too.

We were told to stay away from all inclusive resorts and now we know why. It was very nice, but it was very typical. Didn't feel the local flavor. Also, there was no alcohol in the drinks and food was in very small portions unless you went to the buffet. Staff was nice but not personable.

I think it was hard to come to the westin after Nayara because Nayara was so clean and the food was so amazing. We enjoyed the Westin, but the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms didn't impress us, but the staff was very friendly and helpful and the property was beautiful.

Hotel was too big for our liking, but it was still enjoyable. The food at the restaurants was surprisingly better than I thought but the having to have a reservation when the restaurant was literally half empty was ridiculous. People said the same thing on Trip Advisor so the Westin should re-think their dining program.
