Located in the rural village of La Tigra, Costa Rica, La Tigra Rainforest Lodge offers a unique lodging option for your Costa Rica vacation! This safari tent camp lodge allows visitors to be at one with their natural surroundings. The safari tents are set on hardwood platforms, so you can stay dry while being immersed in the jungle setting. As this is a true ecolodge, lodge amenities are minimal but include tropical gardens, a restaurant, trails, laundry service, parking, and free WiFi in some areas.
La Tigra is well off the beaten path but there are plenty of things to do nearby. The lodge offers a mone km trail that guests can explore jungle trails on their own. You might find anteaters, sloths, toucans, colorful grogs, and more. You can also hike to the Sin Nombre Creek for a swim in the jungle. The lodge also offers a guided night tour through the forest, so you can experience the magic of the rainforest at night when most animals are active.
La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano are about 30 minutes away, so you can participate in the many tours available from there such as a hike at the base of Arenal Volcano, visit to the hot springs or La Fortuna Waterfalls, Arenal Hanging Bridges, whitewater rafting, canopy zipline, or even waterfall rappelling and canyoning. Keep in mind that La Fortuna is the base of operations for most tour operators, so there will be additional time added to drive to the various locations.
The El Canta Ranas Kitchen and Dining Room at the La Tigra Lodge is a rustic onsite restaurant that serves up traditional Costa Rican dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is included in the rate and other meal plans are available as well. Ask your travel consultant for details. The restaurant has a farm to table concept, buying the majority of their food from local farmers. This sustainable practice ensures fresh and delicious food and supports the local economy. The large hall is furnished with long and rustic hardwood tables and benches to sit on. It overlooks the pristine jungles of Juan Castro Blanco National Park.
The rustic tent rooms allow you to be at one with nature. The tents are positioned on raised platforms above the jungle floor and have spacious balconies. As this is the rainforest, a metal roof is above the tent, so you can stay dry! To maintain the tent camp ambiance, each tent has only 1 electric socket in the bathroom and 2 light fixtures. Each unit also has a private bathroom.
