Manuel Antonio is undeniably Costa Rica's crown jewel of beach destinations. Its palm-fringed beaches are nothing short of breathtaking, framed by verdant forested hills that seem to roll endlessly into the horizon. The area is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, as it's not uncommon to spot monkeys, sloths, and colorful parrots right at the edge of the beach!

Manuel Antonio offers an abundance of exciting and unforgettable activities. A visit to Manuel Antonio National Park is a must-do, where the park's modest size belies its incredible wildlife diversity. Guided tours within the park are a wildlife photographer's dream come true! For a romantic interlude, indulge in a catamaran cruise along the lush Central Pacific coastline. These leisurely journeys offer you the chance to unwind with a refreshing drink and savor the serene pace of life. Adventurers will find their paradise in Manuel Antonio, which boasts more adventure activities than any other region in Costa Rica. Embrace the thrill of high-flying canopy ziplines, navigate the exhilarating whitewater rapids of tropical rivers, embark on canyoneering adventures down lush rainforest waterfalls, or catch some waves while surfing in the warm embrace of the Pacific waters.

However, if relaxation is your goal, you need not venture far from the resort to enjoy a truly soothing experience. Situated on an 11-acre expanse of lush rainforest teeming with wildlife and extending to the beach, the hotel's natural surroundings offer endless possibilities. The beach that lies below and in front of the resort is an idyllic paradise. Roaming the property in search of exotic birds, monkeys, and sloths can be a delightful pastime. Of course, the beach beckons with opportunities for swimming, boogie boarding, and blissful relaxation. For those seeking inner harmony, the resort offers complimentary yoga classes to nourish your body and soul.

Arenas del Mar's exclusive Las Brisas Wellness Center provides an array of health and beauty treatments and therapies. Whether you seek a rejuvenating facial, a soothing massage, or a custom-tailored treatment, our skilled therapists are at your service. Reservations for spa services are recommended, and we kindly suggest making them at least a day in advance.

The dining experience at the resort's restaurants is nothing short of delightful. We take pride in offering health-conscious dishes crafted from local ingredients whenever possible. With a backdrop overlooking the beach, the open-air El Mirador Restaurant and Bar is the perfect setting for savoring fresh seafood and authentic Costa Rican cuisine during breakfast and dinner. We happily accommodate special dietary requests, including gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. The El Mirador Bar boasts an impressive selection of tropical cocktails, craft beers, and an extensive wine list. Beautiful view. Like no other that I've seen at a hotel before! Loved the view from the room and the big windows were great. We really enjoyed sitting our deck and watching lightening. Saw sloths and scarlet macaws. The private beach is amazing. The restaurant servers and golf cart drivers were so kind and informative. They made it welcoming, and were empathetic about Cody's day of food poising (from lunch during the transfer). The bartenders were less enthusiastic than I expected. The maid service was terrible. They woke us up from a nap even though we had the "x" sign on the door. They barricaded us in our room with bags of linens and cleaning supplies in front of our door another time. And they broke Cody's c-pap (sleep) machine. We reported it to the check out staff and he filed a report and said with a receipt, Cody could be paid back. I know it is an eco friendly hotel, but I still found the decor to be nonexistent and the amenities to be sparse. For an active, dirty vacation, there were not enough towels and there was very little in the mini-fridge, for example. It's relatively clean but we couldn't leave a wine glass on the counter for an hour without it being overrun by tiny ants. We didn't really want to get in the hot tub, because it didn't look clean, but that could be a product of being by the ocean. The bathrooms and bed were nice and clean. I thought for the price point there would be a little more the property than there was. It's really more of an expensive home base for excursions I guess. The food and drinks were pretty good and we liked it but not incredible. Overall, we had a nice time! The critiques are based on the price point and effort to get there. At another venue, I might not have expected so much. And I certainly did not expect the level of Nayara, we knew that would be nicer and that's okay. But we had a good time and were comfortable. The maid service thing was really the only disappointment.

Another spectacular hotel, although getting there is quite the adventure. We wish we had been at a hotel with more convenient access to the local town of Quepos.
