The thoughtfully decorated and air-conditioned guest rooms of La Vela are equipped with premium bedding, a mini-refrigerator, flat-screen TV, safe box, terrace or balcony, espresso makers, desks, and WiFi. At approximately 300 sq feet, the cozy Standard Rooms are ideal for couples and a great option to save a little money but still be able to afford a great hotel. These rooms have either a terrace and either a double bed or king-size bed, or two single beds. Superior Rooms offer a queen-size bed and are a little larger at 320 sq feet. From the terrace, you have a beautiful view of the gardens. At 360 sq feet, Deluxe Rooms are an ideal upgrade, offering a king-size bed. You can also add a single bed for 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child. These rooms are on the first floor and have a view of the pool from the terrace. The spacious Suites offer an area of 484 sq feet, have a king-size bed, and a furnished patio. These rooms can accommodate 2 additional single beds on request. While an ideal setting with ample space for 2, these rooms can accommodate up to 3 adults and 1 child or 2 adults and 2 children with the extra beds. The Master Suite is the largest room at 700 sq feet. This room has mountain views from the furnished patio and a king-size bed. Similar to the Suites, you can add up to 2 additional single beds to these rooms for up to 3 adults and 1 child or 2 adults and 2 children. All rooms are smoke-free.
Pro tip: While most Manuel Antonio hotels are located on the mountain and not within walking distance to the beach or national park, La Vela is located in the valley, on flat ground, within a few minutes walk of the beach, park, over 10 restaurants, and also shops and boutiques. With this prime location, you likely will not have to pay for taxi cabs or spend time arranging or waiting for them like you would at other area hotels. This represents a savings of approximately $24 per day when comparing to most hotels in the hillside, with two daily trips.

When we arrived (very late) we were greeted by the welcoming smiling face of Marcella. What a lovely young woman and her kindness continued throughout our stay.. She was very helpful with information about the area.
The entire staff was amazing but another standout was Rodrigo, the breakfast captain and waiter. We enjoyed starting each day with him. One morning we wanted to order the Pico Gallo breakfast but since we are allergic to meat Rodrigo confirmed that the dish is made with chicken stock so we ordered something else. A minute later, Rodrigo said he spoke to the cook and she would make us Pico Gallo with water instead. It was delicious. Rodrigo didn't have to do what he did but WOW it was so thoughtful.

The hotel was in a perfect location, walking distance to the beach and right down the street from the entrance to Manual Antonio National Park. We loved seeing monkeys on the roof and in the trees during our stay there! And, it was great seeing Ramon, the Iguana, and a Chireppo reptile hanging around the swimming pool. The hotel had a bad odor outside between the pool and our room, but inside the room was fine. They only offered 1 pillow per person which isn't great if you usually sleep on two pillows. The staff at the pool and at breakfast couldn't have been nicer.

The wifi connection kept breaking all the time though that could be due to our room location being so far away from the front desk maybe but the hotel was beautiful, personal attention from the staff, and we had very close experience with capuchin monkeys. Nice and private location. Very close to the beach.

We really enjoyed the location of this hotel. Close to the national park and beach. Our rooms were very nice; however, they all had a strong mold smell that was masked with air fresheners. The bar and wood fire pizza was great. Everyone enjoyed the pool.

Overall this hotel was very nice. The pool area was beautiful, and there were all sorts of interesting lizards to see. The bartender was great. Again, the bathrooms didn't have shower doors, so the water leaked out a bit. Overall the rooms were very comfortable. They didn't have a full restaurant, but they did server pizza which was pretty tasty. Breakfast was decent - it was part buffet and part made-to-order. It was probably my least favorite breakfast of the three hotels we stayed at. The hotel was extremely close to the beach and the national park, as well as a laundry service, so a very convenient location. However, the road leading to the beach did not have a sidewalk, and was often congested with cars.

Nice, small boutique hotel. Enjoyed the small pool for a refreshing dip during the heat. Loved the wood-fired pizza oven at the poolside where we could order a quick pizza any time during the afternoon or evening. Very nice breakfast buffet. Entertaining to see monkeys occasionally in the surrounding trees. Bathrooms were a little tired and not quite as big as they might be. Very nice balconies for relaxing.

My favorite hotel of the trip. Literally minutes from the entrance of Manuel Antonio Park and a short walk to the beach. the staff were amazing. I spent some time everyday by the pool hanging out with the resident iguana and spider monkeys. The bartender keeps bananas behind the bar for the monkeys and I got to feed them. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Manuel Antonio.

This is a great hotel due to its proximity to the beach. The pancakes at breakfast were delicious and very fluffy. There are some tiny bees around the food which is not great but i dont think that can be helped. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This hotel was so cute! I really enjoyed staying so close to the beach and tucked away a bit. It was also close to the national park, which was very convenient. I really enjoyed this little hotel. The room was small, but I was staying alone so I had no problems with it at all!

room was huge, two floors but lots of light coming in upstairs so no one wanted to sleep there. we fought about who needs to sleep upstairs. I wish i would have kept original plans to stay at parador and enjoy views from up above. national park was just ok but it was nice that it was nearby to hotel. staff were quick to help with everything .
