There is wildlife all over Costa Rica, but there are several destinations that stand out as the best places for a nature vacation. Areas such as Tortuguero National Park and Corcovado National Park are difficult to access, but are among the top destinations for wildlife observation. There are also places that are more accessible that are loaded with wildlife such as Cahuita National Park, Manuel Antonio National Park and various reserves in the Sarapiqui region. If you want to see exotic highland birds, you should consider Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve or Los Quetzales National Park. Palo Verde National Park is excellent for migratory birds and river habitat. Cano Negro is a fantastic location for wildlife observation within an hour and a half of the Arenal area.
