Overview

Indulge in the Mini Combo tour that will invigorate your senses with the delectable essence of freshly crafted chocolate and coffee, setting the stage for an enchanting hike leading to the breathtaking La Fortuna Waterfall. This energizing escapade combines a rewarding workout as you traverse the cascading steps, leading you to the crystal-clear waters embraced by the verdant rainforest. Amid this natural wonder, you'll enjoy a refreshing swim before ascending for a hearty lunch. The magnificent falls are nestled near the renowned Arenal Volcano, an adventure haven in Costa Rica.

Your journey commences with a visit to Don Juan farm, where you'll participate in the creation of pure chocolate and learn the intricate coffee-making process. Depending on the season, you might even have the chance to harvest coffee beans. The experience includes ample tastings, accompanied by cookies, and an opportunity to purchase local products from the farm store. Your expedition then moves to the splendid La Fortuna Waterfall, an over 200-foot cascade amidst a symphony of exotic birds and insects, with nearly 500 steps leading to its base. Although the descent can be physically demanding, well-crafted landings and handrails offer respite along the way, while the cool stream and boulders provide a serene resting spot.

The adventure continues as you ascend to the falls' summit, followed by a delectable lunch, including a delightful dessert, at Rancho Perla Restaurant, one of La Fortuna's finest. This half-day excursion serves as a splendid introduction to Costa Rica's premier adventure destinations, led by your bilingual guide who shares fascinating insights about the area and its wildlife. For those eager to swim, come prepared with your swimsuit beneath your hiking attire; changing rooms are available at the falls' entrance. This comprehensive 3-in-1 package encompasses bilingual guides, admission fees, chocolate and coffee tastings, lunch, and convenient round-trip transportation from the wider La Fortuna vicinity, encompassing Chachagua and Nuevo Arenal. Please note that this tour is not recommended for children under 5 years of age.

This was an excellent first day excursion to get comfortable with how our other events would look. It was easy enough after a day of travel but really informative and exciting. We loved the tour that North Fields did and our guide there was funny, knowledgeable and friendly. The combination of adding in the waterfall gave us some exercise and a different type of fun. The meal in town afterward was delicious and a nice addition to be able to adventure off the resort a bit. It was also fun to join other group and get to know some other people experiencing the joys of Pura Vida. Our guide Orlando was quite pleasant and spoke English enough to communicate and provide us with a good time.

Andres was our driver and he was very nice and caring. The chocolate-coffee tour was educating and fun. We really enjoyed it. The waterfall was a great stop for photos. The included lunch was good/fresh and had local cuisine as well as Americanized food available.

I felt the tour was a bit long but the chocolate was very good and staff had a lot of knowledge!
