Snorkeling Tours

Imagine snorkeling Costa Rica’s tropical islands, coral reefs, and underwater marine life in the warm beautiful waters of the Caribbean or Pacific Ocean! Millions of years ago the pressure of 2 tectonic plates pushed Central America up from the sea floor forming a bridge from North to South America. This geological history began an abundance of biodiversity creating new ecosystems found all along the coastal regions, enhanced by the mineral rich waters from volcanoes. Typically, calm and clear conditions prevail for snorkelers to swim with schools of fish and experience the vibrancy of a wide variety of sea creatures easily found living in the rocks and reefs close to shore. In addition to the many brightly colored tropical fish, huge sea turtles or rays may be swimming in the area, and if you’re traveling by boat, you’ll almost always see a dolphin or two.

Embark on a raw and authentic marine adventure aboard a powerful panga boat, the perfect vessel to navigate the open Pacific and get you close to nature’s giants. You’ll scout the coastline for majestic Humpback Whales—with peak activity from mid-July through October and a second season from late December through March—along with resident bottlenose dolphins often spotted playing in the wake. If you are traveling during the dry season (December through April), you will anchor at the iconic "Whale Tail" in Marino Ballena National Park for a snorkeling session; please note that for the rest of the year, this remains a dedicated wildlife cruise as snorkeling is not available. The adventure also includes a scenic cruise past the dramatic Ventanas sea caves, offering spectacular photo opportunities of the rugged rock formations. Please be aware that this is an open-ocean experience on a small boat that moves constantly with the swells—while thrilling, we strongly advise guests prone to seasickness to consider this carefully before booking, as the motion is continuous.
